Guys, sometimes it is nice to get a square footing and start over. We can mark the early part of the season finished and reset scoring to zero, and I'm thinking about doing that. I think many get in a big hole and they have a mental block develop as they can't seem to get squared away.

God knows that baseball is a long season. Anyone think we can reset scoring and have another fresh round, similar to what the "King of the Hill" contest does? Not eliminating anyone, but just resetting and letting everyone get off to another fresh start? Thoughts? Opinions? tulsa

Tulsa, I think this is a great idea. I would vote for a reset but of course, I don't speak for everyone. Keep doing the great job with the daily best bet, reset or no reset.

I think it would be nice for mostly everyone to reset, but I actually like fighting to get back into the black...I'm close...even thought LAA's blew it for me today.

See, the thing is...if someone expects to be a winner, then they'll be a winner if we reset or not. If someone is down the deep well (as we've all been at some point) sometimes a fresh start is what gets us going again. I'm no liberal and I'm not advocating some sort of "We all win" type competition, but I think that sometimes it just makes sense to say, "ROUND ONE OVER" and "Let's play ROUND TWO!" tulsa

Thanks for your input and great job too. You've made me some cash on the best bet thread!

Also, I think that if we reset, we can set a deadline date for the next reset...Like July 1st or something like that. Something for us all to shoot for.

I wonder what NEWPORT thinks of this idea. tulsa

I have an IDEA

Tulsa....Why Not have each session where you keep the record and then reset

EVERY TIME a PLAYER REACHES OVER A $1000. Then each player during each sessions is re-set, and re-interested, re-juvenated, re-focused...hahaha you get it, to try and be the first to a thousand dollars where each play is based on a $100 bucks. This will help players money manage, and will teach the understanding and power of VALUE plays.

Then keep a record throughout the year by keeping a record of EACH $1000 session, and give us a final dollar record at the end of the year. Everyone is reset with their final dollar whether plus or minus once a person reaches $1000

So lets say I am down -330 after the first session, but hit first for $1054 the next session, now for the year I am +670.......but we start the session over again.

And actually this way is exactly what real gamblers should be doing.....WITHDRAWING MONEY FOR THEIR POCKET......not allowing their balance to get too high, and then give it back to the casino.

SO WHAT DO YOU THINK??? I think I have a good one here. You can change the figure to 1200 or 1500 dollars....whatever.....but I see you are the only one over 1000, so lets say you TULSA are the session 1 winner, and now cut and paste those numbers to the side, and start a new session,And we can then try to capture or work towards that goal eac session, and then at the end of the season, we can also see how well we did overall,

NEWPORT, give me a bit of time today to get a hold of what you propose. Sounds workable, though. Let me read and re-read what you've got here. tulsa

And thanks for the input, by the way! I knew you'd have an idea. tulsa

Maybe you want to re-set my figure to 1500 to give more time in between sessions. I mean you do nto even have to keep everyones individual session cumlative if that is toomuch work. but running each session with a dollar figur target is the key to what I am saying!!! Is that not gambling???? So each gamber can act like they just deposited money into their account, and here we go. How to mulitply your 100 bucks to 1500 or whatever the number

You see the logic in what I am saying Take your time

thefawv, of all people, you have taken a hole and filled it in with careful play! You have really turned it around. Thanks for your input. If I can figure out what to do...maybe using NEWPORTS ideas or a variation (I really like the idea of having sessions to race to 1k or so and then resetting once someone hits the goal.) But, we will start ASAP once we figure out what we are doing here. tulsa

You are running the thing so run it however is easiest. I can imagine that this is a lot of work each day.

yubnolck, it's not so bad using a spreadsheet. It takes about 30 minutes for me each day, but I'm slow. Not as big a deal as people might think. tulsa

I think it's a terrible idea. A guy can get one hot streak and be top of the heap, and a guy who steadily grinds out a profit keeps getting kicked back to zero.

I personally think that shame is a real good motivator for cappers. Nothing disciplines a player like facing his record, accurately kept by a third party, unpaddable, etc.

Another thing -- the whole point of the best bet thread (I thought) was to provide a good feedback resource for players to use, whether they fade it, play it, etc. Resetting it every now and again (or even worse, just resetting the good players) makes it worthless as a resource along those lines.

Phaedrus, I understand exactly what you are saying. However, there is a human tendency to get deep in a hole and to stop participating. I would like everyone to participate that has any inclination at all.

I want to give one quick analogy that explains my take on it. In games or competitions, everyone gets to reset at some point. The Yankees got beat by 22 runs last year by the Cleveland Indians. They didn't have to carry that score with them the next time they played the Indians. They got to reset. How enjoyable would the game be for anyone (even Yankee haters) if the Yankees went to play the Indians and had to start the next game 22 runs down.

Just calling an end to round one and beginning a round two doesn't mean the good cappers will be bad and the bad cappers will be good. However, it renews interest and before the next round starts we all will know the goal, whether a date or a goal amount. The top tier will be recognized and we begin again.

I'm not going to forget (using this as a resource as I do) that Texas-Winners or MysticMan or SkinsRaj, etc. win more than not and that I have made winning plays by following their advice. tulsa
