Just got home from taking my daughter to see it. it is VERY good.

it will never hold the "magic" of the 3 i saw when i was little, but just judging all six as movies, this is the best one....:103631605

None of them match the original star wars and empire strikes back. That is just a given.

The 4th and 5th movie release, were pretty mediocre in my opinion.

However Episode III rocked. I didn't really like the way the story ended up but I know it had to be that way. Overall it was a great movie.

If I was was still 10 years old I would probbaly have loved the movie, much the way i loved empire strikes back and returned of jedi. but it is hard for me not to see how weak certain parts of the movie were. Like when the emperor had all the jedi Killed. TO me those scences were just pathetic. THye are supposed to be jedi, how did they not sense anything. ANd when Anakin swicthed over to the dark side, I felt that was way to rushed.

It was OK. Now that all the movies have the big explosions and deep srotylines it is "just another movie" basically.

Plus it was like they were trying to fit all the characters from the first movie into this one to make it all come together. Not to mention the age thing. He was like 8 when he met here and she was at least 16. But in this movie they were basically the same age, which didn't make sense to me. As well as Obi, wasn't he like 60 something in that first one. He looked about 35 in this one, and they were already born. So if Luke was 18, at most Obi would have been 50-55 and still be able to kick ass.

So even though they treid to tie it together, I am not sure how close they followed the books. I didn't read them. But it seemed they stretched it a little getting all the characters in there.

Plus the speed of the movie definately did not follow the speed of the episodes and any time that is supposed to happen in between. He grows up in the presence of this guy (chancellor) and doesn't turn, but all of a sudden he not only turns but does everything he need to do and has everything happen to him that need to happen to become Darth Vader? All within a span of a couple days? Not to mention she is pregnant in this and she just tells him somewhere in the middle of the movie, and she is far enough along to deliver 10 pound babies?

For such an ingenious franchise like this the logistics were not well thought out. Even in this trilogy itself the transitions were sloppy and didn't make sense.

It seems he just did them to satisfy people and gave them something that was basically contrived and finished the original story.

I guess there are 6 more episodes, but he said he won't do those, even though the original plan was to do at least 9. But because it took 30 years to do the first six, the time isnt there to do those.

But it was OK, as a stand alone movie it was below average. But because it was part of a huge epic, and there are 5 other movies to help it along that made it watchable. And only because you know what is going on. If you don't know the story, you might not think it is all that good.

What I don't understand is this...

If there is such a huge demand, why doesn't he keep making the movies????

Star Wars works, keep making the $$$

His other movies are good, but he has an expertise in this. Why stop???

he's sick of it. plus, he doesnt need to work, hes filthy rich. When your that rich, you can do what you want. he wants to do some other projects.

I just saw it and read no reviews before, i didnt want to know what would happen. I thought it was very good. The acting is wooden and yes the conversion to the dark side was very rushed. Too bad they wasted so much time on nothingness in the first movie ( 1997).

One thing- it is very difficult to write prequels. Since the audience knows characters in the later movies can't possibly die, it makes it very difficult to make scenes like a battle between obi wan and darth vader dramatic- we know they both will survive. I would say part of the reason these newer movies have not been as good is this underlying prejudice which people don't realize, since we know certain characters are always safe, its hard to feel connected when they are in big trouble.

the reason there will be no more new movies is because he has sold the rights to everything AFTER return of the jedi.

he does have plans for spin off movies based on secondary characters, and the original films are being re-released in 3D starting in 2007.

also, there will be a new indiana jones movie in a yeear or so....
