In the 1-1/4 mile Derby, Giacomo benefited greatly from a red hot, suicidal pace that cooked nearly every horse in the top 10 through six blistering furlongs clocked in 1:09.59. In the 1-3/16 miles Preakness, however, there is likely to be a more realistic pace scenario that should boost the chances of several horses Giacomo defeated.
