Is this the oldest battery in the history of MLB? Together they are almost 85 years old.

That combo consisted of 41-year-old left-hander Terry Mulholland and 41-year-old catcher Pat Borders -- a pair who constituted the oldest starting pitcher-catcher battery any team had rolled out there since June 3, 1945, when the Dodgers started Curt Davis and Clyde Sukeforth.

Looks like 42 year old Borders and 42.5 year old Moyer have that combo beat.

Pat Borders....the Rick Dempsey of the 90's with the out of nowhere really World Series M.V.P back in 92. While being biased that 92 Jays team has to rank up there with one of the best in the era. The pitching staff is a who's who's of former all stars with Key, Cone, Ward, Henke, Wells, Hentgen, Stieb, Morris etc etc.

The Jays had many good players during their championship years, he really stepped up as an average player and played very well during that time.

I met Pat Borders in a casino one time, and I can tell you that he had the same big chaw of Red Man in his cheek as he does when he is playing....nice man.

On a side note it was odd to see John Franco in an Astro's uni at the age of 44 last night.
