What Would The Industry Be Like With No More Donbest?

I am curious how much alot of the books would drop their LIMITS. I know quite a few that would be happy, I know all the dry moving offices would go slap nuts. I loved it when there wasn't no Donbest. so many books copy certain peoples lines off the screen that its pathetic. they hurt quite a few books over the years copying their lines off the screen. I can remember a few years back if the screen had painted 5.5 on the Spurs and Delmar went to 5 on the screen, within 15 minutes it would be painted 5's. and I'm talking about books that wasn't even taking a bet, a couple of dry moves and than the screen watcher's would bet what was left on the screen. I seen it out of my own eyes. that's the main reason why Delmar use to put alot of phony lines on the Donbest, if they put the right line on the screen they would just hurt themselves because within 15 minutes they would all go to their line. I hate when a CLERK answers a phone and you are put on hold and than they make the dry move on you, real bad business in my books, if I was that scared to take a bet I would find me another ocupation.

I would take one limit bet at plus 5.5 then go to 5, having a book like Delmar or CRIS move a number should alert a charter to look for action on that game. Simply moving on air, while common these days, isn't guaranteed to make money for a book.

A Grande move off a standard number usually gets that response now.

Why isn't Del Mar back on Don Best now? Would cut down on phone run downs with no website to view.

RB,short term there would be a lot of change. Long term, probably not much. Still alot of people around who know how to book without the screen.

Is true many books (line managers) will go nuts, because those lines services give the books an idea where the money is moving, or where sindicates are putting their money. And also books copying lines will go out off bussiness.

And on the other hand this could be bad for the player cause because of line services books use to have a common line, but without them many just put the lines as the line maker decide, and I think this might hurt the player.

Players would then be running around like they used to trying to catch middles against books or jumping in on a line that hadn't gotten moved yet. This is why people complain about "air" moves since it's harder following steam games. If you used to be getting a rundown say from Grande and heard a move taking place you could then try calling another out right away to try and catch that number that within minutes would be gone most places with decent limits.

I must say in my 6 years of gambling I have never even thought of looking at Don Best, and I have never really cared which way the line moves, I have won a good amount of money going against the line move. If players spent more time handicapping games than staring at the don best screen they would become much better sportsbettors. I take pride in me bets and to me someone who sits in front of the screen looking to chase steam is totally missing the point of sportsbetting and will never enjoy the outcome like I do. It is one thing to chase steam and win, but winning bets that you handicapped yourself for hours and hours over and over again is the ultimate feeeling in sportbetting.

Good points. The Don Best screen for a handicapping tool is to find the best line for your bet without multiple browser refreshing at books websites that mainly time out or multiple phone calls.

What if you were on the other side of the fence, and you been having a Donbest for 10yrs. it still wouldn't bother you at all. the best days of my life is when there wasn't no Donbest.

Surprised to see you bump a 10 day old thread on a quote that is flawed. Of course soft/bad lines don't hurt players and create scalpers/middlers. 10 years ago before live Don Best and widespread internet bookmaking middlers were at their peak with all the line variations. Having a -3 or +5 available on a game is always good for the bettor.

The funny thing is, alot of players have become dependant on DB. When they are down, action tails off.

Just read this thread this morning and thought it would benefit the poster who had written the post. Sorry. Did not mean any harm.:suomi:
