They probably prefer just tipping since they know the odds are against the player winning long term...

thanks for the feedback guys...I thought they liked it more if you bet it with your play if you where on a hot streak...I will now just give them the tips and not bet it

I ask the dealers what they want... most seem to want to wager it and try to double it up.

Dealers don't really care since the money is pooled.

In 21, they should want you to bet for them for an obvious reason. If the player gets a double down or split, most put up another unit for the dealer.

So the dealer actually has the edge over the house in that a $5 tip bet made is worth MORE than $5 over the long run, since the player has to put up another $5 some of thetime.

When a blackjack dealer says she would rather have the sure $5, I immediately think "what an idiot". She is lowering the tip expectation, while simultaneously basically saying she thinks the player is going to lose.

i agree with Max - i ask what they want done with it - and whatever the decide is what i do. and like Fezz says - if i split or 2B down or whatever for myself i also do the same for the dealer

why can't the tips dealers get be for them instead of pooling it?

the only argument i have heard is that it wouldn't be fair because some dealers deal higher limits etc, but aren't those dealers there because they have been "promoted"?

on a dice table the players will also give odds on a line bet, also the dealer should bet the money there too.
