Is a flat out STUD. This guy is not only one of the best young hitters in baseball, he is one of the best overall hitters in the league. He reminds me of Pujols. The fact that he is making way less than 1 million a year is a joke, when Al Leiter is making 8 million this year.

Yeah, he'll get paid. Dontrelle too, he's making like $300,000. If you're good in baseball you'll get your money eventually.

If he played in a major city he would get the recognition he well deserves. His name is hardly ever mentioned when you talk about the top players in the game. Hopefully for Marlins fans they can come up with the money to keep this guy.

Miami is a major city. Not a mjaor baseball city. The Marlins need to come up with enough money to keep themselves first. They've built this team through the draft and farm system trades and the one big signing of Delgado. And they're all coming up on getting paid and arbitration.

i was talking with a buddy of mine about how little Willis makes, and how much he is gonna bank when it comes time...as far as being a baseball town, we are not...this place will always be a football first town...even the 'CAnes get more props than the marlins

Cabrera can play almost every position in the field as well. Marlins GM will have plenty of tough decisions with the young guns + Cabrera

The canes get more props than the dolphins.

South florida really does not lean tword any one sport. Amazingly enough, hockey was pretty popular before the strike.

The main problem the fins and marlins have is their stadium location. That stadium is literally in the middle of nowhere. Pretty much an hour drive + traffic regardless of where you live (Unless of course you live in the dumps surrounding the stadium).

What they need to do is build a stadium for the dolphins further south and build a new stadium for the Marlins in Fort Lauderdale. I think most people who are marlins/baseball fans are from broward and palm beach counties.

Are you from South Florida? If you aren't you are mistaken.

If you are.....

WHAT!?

The Miami Dolphins are by far and away King Sport in Miami, no if's and's or but's.

Later.

Also the location of Dolphins stadium is by far one of the greatest locations you can get. It's right on the border of the tri-county area. It's an equal drive whether you live in Dade Broward or Palm Beach.
The Marlins don't draw for 6 reasons:
1) Rain
2) Baseball in a football stadium
3) Non-commitment to winning and keeping salary players
4) The Post World Series FireSale
5) The Dolphins are king sport.
6) There are too many things going on in South Florida, the beach the nightlife, etc.

If the Marlins get a retractable roof on the stadium, maybe they'll draw more because some guy wont mind driving a half hour if he is guaranteed to see some baseball. Baseball has a tradition and it needs to be watched in a baseball stadium. The Marlins made a step in the right direction by singing Delgado and showing they don't mind paying high salary free-agents.

SHOWING SOME SPEED:

Cabrera, hardly known for his speed, stole third in the fourth. He has 38 career steals, five against the Indians.

Moving up the Tiger hit list

Miguel Cabrera's single gave him 1,490 as a Tiger, which tied him with Willie Horton for 13th in team history.
