First post of the year: LAD/AZ over 5 runs -117 (1st 5 innings)

I've been busy with life (moving) so I haven't posted in this forum yet this year.

Jeff Weaver is at it again. After having a somewhat respectible year with the Dodgers last year and a couple good games this year, his ERA has exploded in the last couple games. He gave up 4 earned runs in 3 innings in his last outing and 6 earned runs in 5 2/3 the time before that.

Russ Ortiz has not pitched all that well his last 2 games out although I think he is due. Ortiz gave up 4 earned runs in each of his last 2 times out while pitching 6 innings and 5 1/3 the time before.

Even if Ortiz pitches well I think Weaver will give up enough to put this over.

I was leaning on the over. There were too many variables in the 1st half. Lots of scoring in the 1st quarter, very little in the 2nd quarter.

Some would say that the 2nd half would be low-scoring due to each team figuring out each other's offense and they would have been right. But I've seen plenty of Suns games go the other way in the 2nd half where the slowdown seen in the 2nd quarter is only temporary.

I'm glad you picked it right.

Glad you cashed Dub. I've seen games where a pitcher gives up 3 runs in the 1st and then settles down. I'm glad this one didn't end up that way.

Thanks bucs. I see you are kicking some butt in the bases this year. I'll have to try to take a look at your picks. I see we are on the opposite sides of the fence on the Yanks/Sox game.
