atleast Beltre is playing Mags in Detroit hasn't played since opening day. Serves Detroit right no other team would touch him and the Tigers bid against themselves signing him to 75 million dollars 15 million more in total dollars than Beltre got

Same thing that happened to Arizona last year with Sexson. It is a shame these guys still get paid all this money when they don't play...hell, it is a shame they get that much money when they do play!

Sexson was a trade.....a bad deal at that considering the depth it gave Milwaukee. Arizona atleast didn't have to pay him for another 6 years, he was one and done before moving his home run or strikeout bat to Seattle.

On a side note does Juan Gonzalez ever kick himself for not taking Detroit's 7 year 140 million dollar offer they gave him just after being traded from Texas. I mean he must of hated Detroit and the ballpark or was foolish enough to believe he was going to get a better offer.

It's hard to consider Mags a bust since he has only ten at bats even though they were all hitless. For anyone who ever needed to have hernia surgery you may know what that would be like trying to play pro ball. The hernia and viral infection that proceeded it in spring training had nothing to do with the knee question that other teams weren't willing to go to a 5th year on with a contract. The Tigers have many outs written into that contract at the end of the first 2 years so they are not buried to this the same as the Yankees are with a Giambi contract. The guy has been a run producer his whole career so when he gets the bats in and if they are still way below his norm then he can be labeled a bust. Tigers sure could have used his normal bat over the last couple weeks of this offensive drought they have been in before yesterday.

Yeah but everyone knew Mags is always on the DL that is why Chicago didn't even look at him, If this was a one off then no he wouldn't be a bust but for the contract and his age he is going to be on the DL every year of that deal. Detroit foolishly threw money at him cause they couldn't sign the Pavano's during the winter.

Oh yeah another bust Jaret Wright he was getting lit up before going on the DL

Actually it is easy to consider him a bust. This is a results oriented game and the results simply have not been there.

Sosa wasn't a free agent. He was traded under contract.

Oops, you're right. Cubs have pulled off two good moves this last year getting rid of Sammy and that bum Hawkins.

No-arm was technically a free agent, although the Cubs are only stuck for this year. (talk about kicking yourself for not taking a deal).

Randy Johnson was given a 2 year extension to get the deal done so he should count. He has flat out lost it. Not nearly the same pitcher. Whether that is age, or roids or whatever, he isn't the same.

I know it was a minor deal money wise, but Mondesi for the Braves has been totaly useless. Dan Kolb was a trade with the Brewers, but hes been a total bust as well.
