I am just curious as it seems we have alot on this site that hate flying

Jman hates it
General hates it
Fishhead hates it
and now Ofrog...

Just curious why this is??? it is by far the SAFEST way to travel ..you have more of a chance getting hit by a truck on the highway driving then anything happening to you flying

***
does it have to do with a form of paranoia gamblers get at times??

I have the same fears of driving on the interstate as I do flying in a plane. I like my chances of safety and living another day better by staying right here in the comfort of my trailor.

The cabin of an airplane is full of disease causing bacteria........same old air being recirculated.

Very unhealthy........be sure to pack your echinacia on long trips and avoid alcohol and caffiene 24-48 before and after a flight.

I hate flying....ok well I hate the takeoff once in the air i'm alright. The reason for me that i'm not big on flying is that I hate not being in control of my surroundings.

Excellent point, about control, I prefer to be behind the wheel. Also, if I have a mechanical failure in my pickemup truck I pull over, I do not fall out of the sky. Wind shear, barely move my truck. Personal experiences, my Aunt and her entire family killed in a mid air collision, two big planes, early 60's. Devastating effect on entire extended family. The most religous family I know growing up lost both parents in a small plane accident, all orphaned. Going to a religous retreat. All the sayings in the world, God takes the good ones first, now they are at peace with the lord, still did not help those poor kids. Talk about losing my religion. Can't describe the hellish military hops I flew in the Navy. I have flown once since 9/11. To Vegas.

Best Wishes...OF:howdy:

I'm ok with it except for the takeoffs and landings.Must admit I sweat bullets at beginning and ends of flights. :smoker2:

this is a timely subject, last night I was coming home with my girlfriend from an out of town trip. We were about to touch down when all of a sudden the plane' s nose was pulled up and the jets were fired up and we took off . The pilot came on the speaker to say they had a "go around" which he explained had to do with a plane on the same runway we were about to land on. Was the first time I felt uneasy flying. It is the best way to travel imo. That is as long as takeoffs = landings

I know I know I know about the driving part but I just feel safer is all. Aslong i'm not going 80 on the highway with a big rig in the wrong lane i'll take my chances of being fine but when you are in a plane and while chances are slim that sucker falls there is nothing I can do and it doesn't happen in an instant like a major car wreck so there are differences.
