SOLID CHOICE

23 y/o

5'11"

we need to have a board meeting of the "H.I.P." and make her an INSTANT HOF member.

as a board member of the "H.I.P." i hereby call a meeting in this thread.

all in favor of her HOF status - moan softly and don't bother trying to stand up - for that won't be possible

all opposed - YOU ARE GAY and NO longer a member of the "H.I.P."

I think she won because she speaks good English. The other or rest of the top 5 were all beautiful Latinas. Trouble was they all needed an interpreter to read back the question. Then even worse they gave it thier best shot to answer in English. It was sad to see them just think of the English words to say, let alone trying to come up with an intelligent answer. One of them, graduated magna cum laude, and still sounded like my maid answering. Brutal. I think that young Dominican gal was my favorite. 6 footer with legs leading up to the perfect butt. Had to go back to American Idol, where my favorite farm gal was practicing sqealing like a pig for ol FROGGY. That's it Carrie, squeal like that big ol sow, yes, yes, squeal, arggghhhh!

4 Finalists from Latin America beaten by the Canadian.

She reminds me a bit of a young Linda Carter.
One of the best final 5 groups I've ever seen.

You have a good point Frog. Something I was thinking also last night while rooting her on. Subconsiously those judges rated her higher if nothing else. She seems a like a good winner though.

Congrats PS you mooseheaded hoser. You have the babe of the universe. I guess Miss Earth is not grand enough. Hey, to be a world class beauty, and graduate with honors is only matched by the gerbil packing Richard Gere's old squeeze. Cindy. She was a valedictorian. As far as picking the right girl, Miss Canada was the one, although I would think she is really a Miss Czech in disguise. Very good representative for the universe and for Canada. Our girl looked like a Walmart cashier, who punched doggies at the rodeo part time.

That question round is an audition to the next year of tough questions and appearances. Are you going to have a full time interpreter follow her around for a year? It would be OK in all of the ESpanol speaking countries, but not too good elsewhere. Miss Canada gave the nuts answer. She had a radiant personality and was hands down the best choice for Miss Universe. Now if it was Miss Handhumper, I would have to go with one of the Latinas. Great show.

I thought Czech, Russian? But I was speculating on look and surname. And first name. Oh well, your gain and Russia's loss. Congrats, you have something to be proud of, she is a very classy woman.

Looking at the past 20 years it doesn't look as if speaking the best English was such a lock to winning this pageant.

It is not about speaking English as much as quick thinking and stage presence. That is where all 4 latinas struggled mightily. They had the question translated to Spanish, and gave an awful answer back in English. I am not exaggerating, simply awful. It was a struggle just to try to get the English right. I actually felt for them, as each one looked like they would burst into tears after struggling mightily. In my mind, they were at a severe disadvantage with the contest not being in Spanish. And yes, many of the last top ten winners, if not all, spoke close to perfect English. It certainly does not hurt.

Also look at Miss Canada, who as Pancho was kind enough to point out, emigrated from Russia at age 11 to Canada. Did she speak a word of English when she arrived. Probably. When USSR fell apart, German was no longer the #1 second language, it was soon to be English. All of the Eastern blocks, Poland, all learning English. It is part of globalization. Even though those poor Latinas could speak English, they needed the question translated, then have to translate the answer, let alone think of a good one, in a few seconds. I wonder if they had the option of answering in Spanish? Having the translator give thier answer in English. If anything the contests evolve as what have you done for me lately exhibitions. None of the top tens except our USA dump truck was born in an English speaking home. So they all were speaking it, some better than others. Next, a dump truck stands out amidst 9 other slender beauties in a swimsuit. There is a certain height, weight and shape range, even a not too buxomy guideline. The current "look". The Latinas are naturals right now. You see all of the Brunettes? Even from Blondie Nordic countries. I think you could take any of the top 4 Latinas, P.R., Mexico, D.R. or Velenzuela and train them to be successful international runway models. But you might not train them to be goodwill ambassadors to the World, representing Miss Universe. From now on you had better be able to fire off a noble answer in English, be a brunette, and not have a heavy shape. Miss Australia could have won again.

Best Wishes...OF:howdy:

why I dont watch this or care about it- look at the pictures of 5 of the winners a few posts up. the one in the middle is good looking, the one to her right OK. The other 3 are just average. I could go to any strip club in Vegas and find a couple chicks at any time that Id rather bang than most of these miss universe winners
