It broke my heart to have to turn down a position in the book at Sante Fe Station. Family comes first, Stations is now hiring 1/3 of there staff as "part time" 32 hours or less to avoid the high cost of benefits.

As much as I would love to avoid the daily traffic nightmare and hang out with my degenerate "peeps" everyday I couldn't give up the Medical Benefits and over a 10,000 dollar yearly cut in pay.

CASINO SECURITY PAYS THAT WELL??????? YOU COULD MAKE IT UP 10 hours a week elsewhere, deliver pizzas tend bar, you'd still be at 40 hours and you'd be doing what you WANT to do.

I do understand the beni angle though as I am considered PT at my work, beni's for the family would run over 800 a month through them, I get them at 30 a week for myself through them (the only reason the wife works at all is for beni's)

Well I dont offer benefits to my office staff either. We are under 10 employees so it is not mandatory. But that is ok with them anyway since they are all on their husbands insurance

ALLWAYS good to keep your options open, with WYNN being HOT right now you should be happy where you are at for a while being so new not to be burned out for some time yet.

What are your future plans? LVPD metro/ surveillence/ etc.

Naw, I'm not really into the "cop" stuff. I'm getting friendly with the Bell Captain, those guys are lining there pockets with cash everyday.

I really thinking about bailing out of Las Vegas next year. I have to wait two years so Uncle Sam won't rake us over the "Capital Gains" coals.

I miss the Ocean, looking into real estate in the Corpus Christi area.

I'm 50 buddy, so long term I'm just looking into retiring somewhere nice and spending my days fishing, watching and betting on sports.

Was a bellman years ago at the arlington park HILTON, next to the racetrack (outside of chicago), and i did line my pockets well. I was an even bigger tip whore in my youth, lol. There are casino security jobs on both coasts here at the hard rock (s) just a short drive to the ocean. PLENTY OF SCENERY TOO.

Kiss, such a shame Stations is making such profits and is trying to cut expenses. I am not usually a union type supporter but the skinflint ways of the big employers in this town are driving me nuts. They are living as if houses can still be had for 100k and buffets can keep you full for $5. Sad really, the mentality of Vegas for you. The town is chock full of way too many cheap ass people.

Good timing on this one too, three sticks, Stations CEO Frank Fertitta just was pointed out as the highest earner last year in Vegas. The guy made 94 MILLION last year!!! He also has options still worth $55 million, a stock price up in the stratosphere with billions of new projects in the pipeline. Yet they don't want to pay health care eh? So F-ing Vegas I tell you.

Kiss have you spent time south of your old stomping grounds? I hear San Diegans are buying up stuff at a torrid pace down in Rosarito and Ensenada. If you want beach atmosphere and great year round weather and an easy drive to areas you are familiar with it might be a good value.

I'm afraid if I visit I'll never come back ....:)

Kidding aside

Actually I've got some South West Airlines voucher cash I need to use before September. I'm planning a long weekend in the not to distant future to see the Pads and my old crew at Barona.

Buying in Mexico isn't a bad idea even if you don't technically "own" the property. Problem is, it's a little like tying up a wad of cash in Costa Rica, you never know for certain that someone will never pull the rug out from under you.

At my age having medical benefits is a very big deal and most of the bigger casino's do have a great benefit package, it's the main reason I'm working at all these days.

Buying in Mexico is pretty safe these days and has gotten a lot better in recent years as mortgages are possible. You don't even have to fork over half or more of the cost like you used to. I do have an advantage in that my wife is Mexican so my next property in Mexico will be outside of the Fideicomiso (bank trust), but I have owned a property in Veracruz for over 5 years now and haven't had a problem at all. Just an extra $100 or so of fees each year to deal with. Property prices in Mexico have been going up like crazy, with mortgages becoming more common and democracy and the peso being stable for a decade now Mexicans and foreigners are buying like never before.

Just an idea to buy in soon because the prices may not be much of a bargain for long with its proximity to San Diego. With normal 3 bedroom houses in Tijuana selling for 200k or more, the days of a big discount are almost gone.
