Which way do you bet if your unit is $100 is it to win $100 or bet $100 say if your betting on a -150 game do you put $150 to win $100 or bet $100 to win $67. I always used to bet $100 to win $67 but about a year ago I changed to $150 to win $100.Heres a little chart a sample over 10 games average -150 with a $100 units

.......win 100.. bet 100
70%..+$250.....+$169
60%..even.......+$2
50%..-$250......-$165
40%..-$900......-$332

So as you can see theres not much benifit with the win $100 method and a cold streak will kill ya. The highs and lows of the bet $100 method is'nt far as apart.

Before I changed I basicly never had a big losing streak and not many super winning streaks, I was consistant when I was going good it seemed like every night was 3-2 or 2-1 or 2-2 for a couple months hardly a losing night. During the cold streaks it was like 50% for a few weeks going 2-2 or 2-3 stuff like that not many 1-4 or 0-5 nights at all during cold streaks and not many 4-1 or 5-0 nights durning the hot streaks I was really consistant. But since I've changed its like going from streak to streak it works out to be about the same over the long run maybe a little less but not a big difference. I would much rather go back to being consistant and today I got to thinking what am I doing different and I came up with how I bet is it some how making me analize things in my mind differently or something. For now I'm gonna go back to the win $100 method see if it makes a difference.

Make sure you are line shopping and have at least a few books, that is more important.

In theory at least, a unit should represent a certain % of your bankroll. As yourBR fluctuates so should the amount of a unit.

If you want to keep your standard deviation about the same as with the even money $100 wager you should bet 120 to win 80.

If you want a formula to calculate the bet amount (win or wager), use the following:

200 / (100 + ABS(line)) = bet amount,

where ABS(line) means absolute value of the line. So if the line is -150, ABS(line) = 150, and if the line is +250, then ABS(line) = 250

The answer you get above will be in units, so in your case it will give 0.8 units, or $80

And before the nitpickers point out that it's not EXACTLY right, whenever ABS(line) is above 160 or so, round your number up a bit and you'll be very close to the true number. For example, if the line is +200 it will come out to $67 to win $134. If you round up to $70 to win $140 you will be close to the true number.
