How many of you are on Betfair. If its a good size then I will keep an exchange thread going. We can inform each other of dopey prices, bet or lay, its far too big to keep a track on.

Plenty room at the trough:party:

Basically because your Government and mine are of the same mind, so b/c it is illegal for you "land of the free" to bet, the British government goes along with it. When Bookmakers get a British License, they have to abide by British Law, which means not taking on US clients. As I have said before, where there is a will, theres a way. I have been told umpteen times by Friends working for Betfair, that American Clients use mobiles to put their bets on, having a catalyst in Canada or Europe is another way around it,

Make no mistake, trying to win money nowadays is a joke compared to years ago, and the exchanges is an integral part of keeping your head above water.

Win: How does that explain the fact that I can bet with British outfits like Bowman's and Canbet ?

I won't risk trying to circumvent Betfair's USA restriction. what's a "mobile" ?

Doug,

When I say Mobile I mean the normal mobile phone, which appently is no problem as long as your account has been activated outside the US.

I use BetFair, but I see no reason in promoting them.
The place is full with so called traders, scalpers, middlers, fiddlers and piddlers. Less than 1% of the BetFair users are winners. I am one of them, but over the past 3 years I paid 10x more commission to BetFair than I won with them.
Then comes the problem of looking up the prices. Just takes too much time!
I like this Mansion! 0% commission and one does find some original prices!

What about Bowman's and Canbet ? I'm sure others exist also.

Doug,

They are not registered in Britian.

acw, Thats your opinion and while I accept your reasoning, you also have to accept my point, that if you are going to bet, then Betfair is a must.

I have said before, lets understand where we are. I used to make a living from betting, punting, laying off, arbing with clients long before most on here were born. I know all the tricks, and my sole purpose on these Forums is to help. However, I am not a pro anymore, but I still know my odds, which is why I bet exclusively on Betfair.

winbet,

If someone wants to have a bet with you and you have no opinion on that match/game at all, which bookie/exchange price will you quote in general?

acw, I'm afraid you got me, I dont understand your post. What I am saying is, on Betfair, I will put my knowledge of prices up against any and the majority havent a clue of bookmaking, so in any sport I have an edge.

Did you notice that <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Betfair are lowering the commission on baseball to 1% starting this Friday ? Presumably to give that market a bit of a kick start :103631605

winbet,

When someone honourable (long time good client/friend) phones you and says:"winbet, I would like to bet on .... What are your prices?". Assume that you have no opinion on that match/game, which prices are you most likely to quote to him?

acw,

Its getting late and I'm not sure what your are getting at but I have in the past been what is called a commision agent but Bookmaking is not something as straight forward as you hear on this Forum.

The reality is, this forum is full of well meaning people and people who think they can cash in on posts of so called sharps, which unfortunately is not the case. The most upsetting thing for me is, which I should know better, how people dont seem to listen, and they are always the biggest losers.

Do you sometimes still take bets (regardless of laying them off)?

No, I dont take bets, I'm too old. Reading these forums I wish I had an apprentice to show the ropes to. However, I do have Sportsavant as a MSN mate, and I intend to give him all my savvy, which will take all of 10 mins.

winbet,

Since you are from Ireland, do you have any idea what happened to this O'Halloran from Luvbet?

Gone to the wall I'm afraid, you reminded me that I had £100 with them when they went under, but I had a Future with them on Denver that came to an arm and a leg, and I was in a ridiculous situation of not knowing wether I wanted them to win or not.

Thats why people have to be told. Your money is only safe in British based Books with Real estate or London stock exchange, outside of that, dont ask silly questions, they can all go to the wall, in fact, watch this space.

Bet365 is for sure registered in the UK and takes US action.

I'd say the only safe books are those licensed in Australia where the money is being guaranteed by the government. In Britan this is not the case, so I really don't know what's the big deal bragging about such a location.
