Van Gundy: I'd be 'shocked' if Wade doesn't play

MIAMI -- Dwyane Wade did not participate in the Heat's morning shootaround because of his ailing ribs, but coach Stan Van Gundy is confident his star guard will be in the starting lineup for tonight's decisive Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

"I'd be shocked if he didn't give it a go," Van Gundy said after the team's walkthrough Monday morning.

An official announcement on Wade's status could come just before the opening tip

He is going to be in pain. Wade will just be an average player... nothing special. Unless they give him some pain relievers then maybe just maybe he will be a factor.

almost right coco,

Wade will just be a below average player.

IMO he is the BEST PLAYER IN THE LEAGUE when healthy. I know alot about these injuries. I would be willing to bet that he won't be able to put his own shoes on by himself.

Pretty bold statement about Wade! You would get some debate from several quarters, but thanks for the info on the injury! Coconutman: Any story to go with the handle?

Wade is not the best player in the league. Duncan is but that can be agrued. Is Wade one of the best players yes but put Wade in the west and take away Shaq this Wade best player in the league secomd coming to Jordan stuff will never be taken place.

By the end of his career he'll be more Penny Hardaway than Jordan. Wade's body won't take the beatings he gets on a nightly bases its going to break down.

Coconutman and Sureguy-

You guys crack me up. You two guys do not know how Dwyane will play. Nobody does. The fact that you are saying he will be playing "all game in pain" and that he will be "only an average player" is simply foolish. He only missed 1 game from a similar injury earlier in the season. He will play tonight, but how effective he will be is anyone's guess. But that's all it is. A guess.

All I can tell you is that I am still an athelete. And I had this exact same injury 8 weeks ago. Obviously I am not D.Wade, but I could hardly get out of bet for about a week. And walking fast was painfull. Sneezing, coughing, farting, moving fast, changing gears in my car, stearing my car, getting up and sitting down WERE ALL LIKE GETTING STABBED WITH A DULL BUTTER KNIFE.

I'm sure Wade will play tonight, but he will be under HEAVY medication. Or he is the second comming of :monsters-

legally what type of and how much medication can Wade be given for his pain? I mean to league rules allow anything more than say extra strength tylenol or can he take a vicodin or something stronger? Granted too much medication and he will be a zombie out there but I was just wondering how much can be done to reduce his pain.

They can try to make it numb. Thats about it . It sure as hell is NOT going to heal for at least a week.

Hah...i wouldin't mind eating some pizza right now myself. If it was possible.. you would have it right away.

The name coconutman is from a song by a hardcore punk band called Leftover Crack. Coconutman was mentioned in the song which i really liked so i started using it as a handle everywhere. Also i thought it was original at the time because noone else had a name like that.

Btw how's the weather down there?

There was so much rain yesterday I saw a guy building a big boat and loading animals on it! LOL! Hot in the morning and rain in the afternoon, pretty much says it all for the next 6 months! Even the thought of you sending me a Chicago pie is greatly apreciated! I don't remember too much from the punk era, a few too many 'ludes (714's, anyone remember?), but I like your info on Coconutman and Leftover Crack, what great names, THANKS!

If this was an outdoor game I would be giving weather reports as my office overlooks downtown Miami. The weather sucks here and it may rain later but it won't have an effect on how Wade plays tonite.

What if Rasheed trips because of the rain and falls on Big Ben and he rolls onto Rip and then all three of the Wizards cant play because of the rain.
