How connected are we?

I just received a second PDA phone for work and it made me think how connected I really need to be. I now have two cell numbers and two ways to access the four email addresses I use. Are we gamblers too connected and could it hurt us?

How isn't it good? First off, bookies are making more money than ever.

Get unattached from the score ticker and the television. Go back to having an occasional action bet if you must indulge

If you have an angle, there is likely a way for you to back your opinion with a wager. If your team is getting killed in the first half, there is always a chance to chase in the second half.

The local bookie was good for a fix of action, but today’s sports books are similar to an orgy for out-of-control bettors.

oh ya oh ya Billy wrote. great stuff I love it so many quotables.

I'd be lost without my pager, always checking that, every few minutes during the games.

Great article

I am very un-connected as I have none of these tools other than a home PC.

I bet the biggest loser in Vegas is whoever owns those pay phones just outside the side door at Stardust, just outside the book. Years ago the lines would be two or three deep to use on the five phones there, especially on Sunday nights right after the lottery numbers went up. Now I rarely see more than one phone ever in use. Must have been a goldmine for a long time.

You and I General, forget it. At home we probably have enough PC power to take down a 3rd world country. When I leave home forget it. I am just coming as I am. I dont offer myself any real convience, I am still sneaking to that pay phone or bumming that cell phone.

I dont have to absorbed in all that. Why should I? who cares, mystery builds connections. you cant be too accessable

Those Stardust phones outside the race book entrance doors were known to be tapped from time to time in the early 90s.

To me Rob it is all about your means. I assume that if I was loaded then I would have a laptop, pda, cellphone, fax, copier, etc....

I do not need these tools. It is a want and I serve needs over wants. 3 kids and a mortgage talks. :digit:

Guys, cellphones are cheap and indispensible. I mean if you really can't afford it fine, but you make it sound like something for the rich and famous. Cell phones cost less than landlines generally unless you hardly ever make calls. And if you want to avoid being accessible, they have this little convenient feature called the power switch...geez!
