FWIW - I hope Braves starter Horacio Ramirez nails Erstad in the ribs with his first pitch to him tonight. Braves catcher Johhny Estrada was not knocked unconscious, but had to be helped off the field and was taken to Piedmont Hospital to be examined for a possible concussion and neck injury. Unecessary dirty hit in my opinion. Estrada gave him the plate.

No. I would bet every guy in the Braves dugout would want Erstad on their team. It was a clean play.

I missed the play but I do know for sure that Erstad is a hard nosed but very clean player. He would never do something to try and injure anyone. The Braves should know this.

That was not a cheap hit...that's just part of baseball. he slides, he's probably out. as for payback, I'm sure there'll be some hit batters tonight which is also a nice part of baseball!!

ml catchers should expect to get plowed over from time to time...just as erstad should expect one in the ear tonight.

It was'nt a dirty hit its part of baseball and should he get hit yes as along as it is'nt up near the head and I bet you when he does he'll take his base and it will all be over and I hope the ump relizeses it and dont do anything about it. Todd Ziele was on saying it was fine even Giles who plays for Atlanta said it was'nt dirty.

If the catcher blocks the plate, he should expect to get run over. Most amazing part was that Erstad didn't get hurt.

It was a clean play, but baseball is baseball and Erstad should expect to get beaned.

His teammates are probably dogging him about it as we speak

There was absolutely nothing dirty about Erstad running through Estrada. If a catcher doesn't want to get run over, then position yourself in front of the plate instead of blocking it. There was no other way to try and reach the plate but through Estrada. There is no difference with what Erstad did than everytime a player tries to break up a double play at second by sliding into the 2b/SS.

With that being said, I would drill him with the first pitch to defend your teammate. As long as they don't throw it at his head, that is part of baseball.
