I was listening to a friend of mine tout his service for onight's baseball card and thought about this...he was hyping a service that was offering a 'pledge game' for tinight...

Does it get any more ridiculous, a pledge game?

I remember when I worked for Mike Warren (aka the antichrist) he had his boiler room pushing a pledge game, are there really that many stupid people out there, that will pony up 75 bucks for a pledge game, that was his rate, and this was in 1992:icon_conf

As a young and dumb college kid, poster KYHAWK spent $200 for JIM FEISTS Saturday football selections rated on a 1-5 STAR system.

Good ole' Jimmy proceeded to put a 0-8 and MINUS 28 STAR day on the board.

KYHAWK is still reeling from that debacle till this day.

the maverick was awesome though. wish he was still around. produced an about around 775$ week for me following his plays, and I was just working at wendys at the time. Incredible NBA capper.

There's 3 things you have to take into consideration when it comes to this subject.

First, we all know that there are scammers out there
Secondly, there's also people that know how to cap games......period....
And last but not least, there's people out there that simply couldn't pick a side on a game if they had TWO choices on the same game! LOL

J~Man, as you know I have a different perspective on this........

So, let's use Journeyman as an example.......

Let's say he is one of the "good" guys that was born to pick winners in sports games. Well, suppose he has proven himself that he is legit at what he does and wins several units year after year in the NFL. On the other hand, let's use myself as an example also. Let's say I enjoy sports, but just don't have a "feel" for picking winners. Well, explain to me, what would be the harm in me throwing a few bucks now and then JMan's way to help me win some cash..........:icon_conf

NOW.......KEEP IN MIND.......... This is coming from someone (myself) who has always used the philosophy on here that "If you have to pay for sports selections, then you obviously don't have a clue and shouldn't even be gambling". You can probably even go to the search tool on here and bring that up where I have said it on numerous occasions. However, I still stand beside my other thoughts above, even though the majority on here disagree.....

I have friends that use pay services and we have gone around and around with this argument. They have been burned in the past, but they also have found a couple legit services. They gave me the plays everyday (I don't use them) just so I could track the results. Each of them has found a site that is incredibly profitable. I was impressed.

At the same time, there is no reason anyone should pay money for picks when there are guys like Bucsfan giving them away free.

But I can see why guys pay for picks. Recreational fans that need sound handicapping. It really isn't a bad idea if you find a legit handicapper. THERE is the true problem. 99% of the guys out there are scammers. The biggest problem is, if you see them advertise, they are likely a scammer. The best cappers usually don't have the money or experience to market.

All these scammers are great marketers and great salesmen...that is it.

I don't think giving a tout 100 bucks for a couple weeks picks is all that big a deal really..if you're seriously betting and have a feel for his ability, what's the big deal ?

Hache- i was talking about the scamdicappers like Mike Warren.

Mike Warren ran some impressive eye catching ad campaigns I will say that much. Never fell for his shtick, but I considered it. The power rankings thing he used to do had me thinking plus that whole "my picks are the only ones protected by a court of law"

That is the problem for most of them...they don't get customers. But the ones that stick it out and are successful, I would guess word of mouth?

Right, I agree and know what you meant J~Man. It's just that this subject has come up before between myself, Shrinkster, etc, that's all.........

The only thing I fear is this.....

I never spend much time wagering on baseball, but I will next year, and I will follow Bucsfan as he has proven himself. I may even throw some cash his way to make it more worth-while (and others should also if you want my honest opinion). But......I have wondered that if someone takes on payments for their fine handicapping, will they begin to "think too much" , therefore turning things around for the worse............:icon_conf lol

A majority of touts these days make more money off their referrals to sportsbooks than they do by selling their own picks.

JIMMY FuCKING SPATS !!!

Back in college a few buds and I pieced together enough cash to buy his "GOLD" package for like $300, and got blitzed for a couple of weeks because we didnt have his inside "PLATINUM" selections that he would be happy to get me for a couple extra bucks..

Moral of the story... I CAN PICK EM MUCH BETTER than he can, opened up a sports service, and have been doing business for 7 successful years..

Cashed in 2 times in my 3 years at the Las Vegas Hilton...

And yes it is DAMN tough for an honest handicapper to get business, but most of the clients I have, I have had for the last 5 years...folks don't wander into a site that doesn't have 1 billion star guarantees, but the guys who spent their cash to get my info have done well..

so thanks Spats, you jerkoff, for making realize that I have more skills in my little finger than you turds do in all your spineless bodies !!!

Hey man have you got any tips or adivce for someone half new into the business I dont use any of that billion star guarantees or platnium plays stuff my picks are just normal old picks I even use the same amount of units for evey pick cause thats the way I've always bet. How long did it take you to start getting costomers I've been at it 6 months and not a one, one guy paid $10 for my picks from a monitor but thats it, I'm starting to think the $600 I spent on my site would of been better spent wiping my ass with it.
