As bad as Houston sucks, Zambrano will be the remdy for their ills. Zambrano should NEVER be -173. Already went NUTTY on the over, going to go BANANAS on the astros.

FLUSHING, New York (Ticker) -- One night after Pedro Martinez
was sensational, the New York Mets hope that Victor Zambrano
can just be reliable.

In Monday's series opener against the Houston Astros, Martinez
carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning before settling for
his fifth career two-hitter. He struck out 12 and walked just
one in a 3-1 victory.

Zambrano (3-5, 4.24 ERA) allowed just one run in a season-high
eight innings last Friday in a 2-1 win over Arizona, but has
not been consistent in his first full season in New York.

The righthander has allowed 57 hits and 37 walks in 57 1/3
innings, including at least three walks in all 10 of his
outings.

The Mets have won just two of the last seven games started by
Zambrano, who has lasted longer than six innings only once
this season.

Brandon Backe (5-3, 4.54) made 11 starts for Houston before his
first relief appearance of the season last Saturday against St.
Louis. In his last six games - five starts - Backe is 3-1 with
a 2.46 ERA.

The 27-year-old righthander is just 1-3 with a 6.14 ERA in six
road starts this season, and owns a career 2-5 mark with a 6.24
ERA away from home.
