He makes his MLB debut tonight. Guy was just nasty at Texas. At times, dominant and unhittable. Fierce competitor with nasty bulldog tenacity. Senoir year he led Big 12 in ERA 2.26, wins 14, k's 153!!!, opp ba. .188. That is nasty. Ran right through farms, A, AA, AAA and here tonight. Effectively he had three starts at AA Wichita going 2-0 2.50 ERA, 23 K in 18. Just one stop in AAA Omaha, win and seeya. Looks like he hits the Royals at a time when they are actually trying. Bell has them playing hard, night in and out, even from behind. Awesome rally last night even though it dropped in extra, they know they can fight thier way back. Buddy ball has been good to me so far. Zona, lucky to hold on last night, and really stinkin it up before that. I will take a shot with the lefty phenom. +1.55 WA. Listed. Rest of game caps fairly well.

Only thing that worries me a little is the fact that his fastball is not that strong. Only 83-88 mph. Should be interesting tonight to see his Major League debut. Good luck!

Had the same stuff in all levels, over a K an inning, what does that tell you if he is not a power pitcher? He has snapoff movement. He fools hitters, badly. Both sides. Against Halsey who just stunk it up big time last outing. Against a Zona team that was plummeting back to Earth. With a pen that resembles the BP double tanker. Many advantages, first game out, hitters are charted, no one knows the pitcher. No ab's against. Plus he is a nasty lefty. Bell has the Royals winning. Nice price here for me...

Frog,

I added the Royals at +1.54 to my list of dogs today. Also have Chacin and the Jays +1.48 against Clemens. 'Stros only 4-8 in Clemens' starts this season. Have been making some nice coin going against the Rocket and will keep doing so until proven I should stop. Also have Moyer and the M's at +1.28 and the Twinkies at +1.18. Played two small favs on the runline. Braves -1.5, at +1.45, and Tigers -1.5, at +1.32. Would be satisfied with a split with the 6 plus money sides, but would love a 4-2 day or better.:103631605

Let us see how Thurston Howell III did his big league debut.

<TABLE class=tablehead cellSpacing=1 cellPadding=3 width=370 border=0><TBODY><TR class=colhead align=right><TD align=left>Pitchers</TD><TD>IP</TD><TD>H</TD><TD>R</TD><TD>ER</TD><TD>BB</TD><TD>SO</TD><TD>HR</TD><TD noWrap>PC-ST</TD><TD>ERA</B></TD></TR><TR class=oddrow align=right><TD noWrap align=left>J Howell</TD><TD>5.0</TD><TD>4</TD><TD>1</TD><TD>1</TD><TD>2</TD><TD>8</TD><TD>0</TD><TD noWrap>90-49</TD><TD>1.80</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>

I would have to classify that as a quality start. Has no trouble finding plate or striking guys out with his weak 88 mph stuff. I do not care if he is bangin Ginger and MaryAnne with that suitcase of money. He could make me a lot of money on this squad. If you have not heard of him before tonight, I can't blame you for doubting. Kid pitched very well. Hopefully will not jinx and cash, I shall return...

Well what a marathon. Finally ended. But nice to be a bases forum newbie. Hit a nice hedge and a decent dog. Then found Old Man Tofu up front saying I posted both sides of the Spurs/Motown game. The FROG was leaving him alone, not too wise to start poking at me. Especially with total BS. I will not be an asshole. But neither will I willingly be tread upon.

Cigar, wine, jacuzzi and oil massage.

Did you see the wild break he has, ball moves in and out of the zone vertically, while crossing the plate. He uses the black, but man that snap is downright nasty. Hitters just turn around to see where ball ended up, while being called out. Watched him play at Jesuit High, a Catholic school near my home. He just bumped heads with SoCal coaches and transferred to Texas. He put it all together there. He is fearless, and has impeccable control. Reminds me of a young Maddux, but more advanced at the age. Glad you did well SB. Let's do it again.

Unfortunately, I did not see a highlight. Was out all night, just got home about an hour ago and saw that it was a winner. Thanks again! You have anything for today? Would love to chat with you later about the NBA game. Any thoughts on that one? Good luck today Frog.

Rays reliever J.P. Howell diagnosed with*gout

Rays reliever J.P. Howell left the team and traveled back to Florida to have his left foot examined by team doctors yesterday and the southpaw has been diagnosed with gout.
Howell pitched through the pain twice already and Roger Mooney of the Tampa Tribune reports that he’ll likely be back with the Rays tonight and available out of the bullpen at some point this weekend, avoiding a trip to the disabled list.
He’ll no doubt do anything he can to avoid the DL after missing all of last season and most of this year following shoulder surgery. Howell has allowed 12 runs in 8.2 innings since returning.

Keep it going JP !!!!

8/17/13
J.P. Howell extended his scoreless streak to 23 2-3 innings with a perfect ninth, surpassing the franchise record of 23 that Shields set in 2011

JP Howell was terrible in beginning of the year.. he use to be my least favorite pitcher on the rays, but lately he has really gotten alot better.

Until a few months ago, he would fall off to one side of the mound after throwing, sometimes he would have to put his glove down to keep from falling on ground, obv this really hurt his control. He has recently changed that, knocked a few MPH off the fastball (which worries me, but has been working so far), and no more falling over. I hope he keeps the streak going, go rays go!
