this guy is brutal. you get one of two choices in every at bat...pop up or strikeout. he doesn't try to bunt, he won't take a walk, he tries to hit every pitch onto sheffield. he is also an average center-fielder.

no way he should be hitting 1 or 2 in the lineup. i doubt whether he should even be in the big leagues. he needs to go to aaa and get the fundamentals down to even determine if he is a big-leaguer.

i'm sure dusty will keep running him out there every day...batting him 1 or 2 in the lineup and pat him on the butt when he goes 0-5 everyday.

I agree he shouldn't be hitting 1 or 2. I think Walker will be hitting 2nd very soon. I disagree that he's an average center fielder though. He's made some mistakes lately, but he also gets to a lot of balls with his speed, makes some great catches, has a strong arm.

He also should be stealing bases. He's had a few lately, and has 9, but he should be stealing 40 a year with ease. Instead, he seems content to hit .260, .300 OBP, 22 HR, 60 RBI and 20 steals. Not good enough.

like my high school coach used to say "ya can't steal first base".

Corey's production is just fine when left in the 6th or 7th spot in the lineup. It's this moronic idea of converting him into a leadoff hitter thats screws everything up. If the Cubs (Dusty) would leave him down in lineup the numbers would be far better, and in two years we could trade him for something of value when Pie is ready to take over.

Blue,

It seems I never see you post something stupid and you always talk sense when it comes to gambling, any chance of you posting some picks, win or lose, I am sure your knowledge will be appreciated.

The guy has a bunch of Talent. He needs to stop swinging for the fences. Baker needs to get this across to him , but then again Baker is overrated in his own right and he might be Pattersons worst enemy in making him a great Player

Is there a stat for the % of pitches thrown that a batter swings at? I would wager that Patterson would be #1 - he swings at virtually every pitch. And lately he has really been dogging it in center. I wouldn't mind seeing him ride the pine and put Hollandsworth in CF for a while. Dusty should make a rule - if Patterson doesn't attempt a bunt in at least two at bats per game, he doesn't play the following game.
