SAN FRANCISCO - The mother of a 12-year-old boy killed in his own home by one of the family's two pit bulls says she had been so concerned about one of the dogs that she shut her son in the basement to protect him.

Maureen Faibish said she ordered Nicholas to stay in the basement while she did errands on June 3, the day he was attacked by one or both of the dogs. She said she was worried about the male dog, Rex, who was acting possessive because the female, Ella, was in heat.

"I put him down there, with a shovel on the door," Faibish said in an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle. "And I told him: `Stay down there until I come back.' Typical Nicky, he wouldn't listen to me."

Nicholas apparently found a way to open the basement door.

Despite her concerns about Rex that day, Faibish told the newspaper: "My kids got along great with (the dogs). We were never seeing any kind of violent tendencies."

Faibish found her son's body in a bedroom. He was covered in blood from several wounds, including a major head injury. No charges have been filed.

"It's Nicky's time to go," she said in the interview. "When you're born you're destined to go and this was his time."

Ella was shot to death by a police officer the day of the attack. Rex was taken to a shelter, but Faibish said she wanted him put down.

She put her kid in the basement and put a shovel on the door...WTF???

Do you think it might have been a more humane and civil thing to do by PUTTING THE DOG IN THE BASEMENT WITH THE SHOVEL ON THE DOOR???

Any charges?

You'd think they should start with
Involuntary manslaughter and Endangering the welfare of a child

Yeah, and you're destined for a jail cell, so don't fight it.

That quote really gave me the chills...how could a parent say that after seeing her son killed by a pit bull? That is eery...

D2Bets nailed it

to me - that last line, "well, it was his time to go" IRKED the hell out of me

for that comment alone - they should put her in a bloody red meat swimsuit ad toss her in a shark tank and let her experience what happened to her son - or when they "put down" the other dog - how about this "woman," too

and by the way where the hell did she go that she couldn't take this kid WITH HER?

was she going to the liquor store or strip joint or some plave like that - where she couldn't take him along

also go back and read the story and notice how there is NO MENTION of a Father/Man in the house. geez - wonder why? my guess is the guy left this psycho bitch a long time ago

and how about putting the dog's OUTSIDE

better yet - how about NEUTERING the dogs - then you don't have to worry about them being "in heat" - although they probably weren't so they could be bred - so this bitch could make some money off them - money we know she will NEVER tell the IRS about

there are men and women out there who are doing anything they can to have kids and would treat them like gold. then there are "people" like this one who seem to think kids are razors - disposable

UNREAL!

is this the same woman? Maureen Faibish?

http://www.ripoffreport.com/reports/ripoff11440.htm

San Francisco Slumlord Colm Brennan: 711 Lincoln Way, betw. 8th & 9th Avenues

This man is the worst.

His relatives, who live in the building, are far, far worse.

His grandchildren who live in the building can do no wrong and run, rollerskate, scream, jump off furniture, beat each other, and generally trash the place from dawn until 10 p.m. everyday, but don't complain....or you'll incur the wrath of
his psychotic daughter, mother of the kids (Maureen Faibish).

There is no peace to be had here. The noise level is unbelievable.

His no-good slacker son-in-law (father of the kids) doesn't even bother to live with Maureen, he spends 90% of his time in the dark underground garage, avoiding her, smoking it up with his friends (right up through your heating vents into your unit) when he's not throwing wild football keggers with his pals. His booming voice yelling at his kids (who ignore him) is a constant sound.

Another constant sound is Maureen and him screaming obscenities and putdowns at each other in front of the kids.

Thats what I was thinking put the dog in the basement. I got a similar story no one died or got hurt but there was this crazy wild cat living in a wood pile in the back yard it was having kittens in there or something anyway a little kid that lives next door was sticking his head right down in the wood pile trying to find the cat or eat it I dont know the kid is half retarded or something the whole family's out to lunch his mother was in they're yard and I told her a wild cat lives in there probaly not a good idea to stick your head in there the cat can scratch your eye out or something and she said it'll be his own fault I already told him once mean while the kid was only like 3 years old.

It's the same woman because in this article, they say Colm Brennan is the grandfather of the boy:

This sounds like a real dysfunctional family, the mother has to be the worst mother in the world.

that is so sad, that slum article was posted in 2002, so obviously no one ever did anything about these psychos. Hopefully they will now.

Geez I went and read that article, they all sound so ignorant, except the grandfather, who I guess is the 'slum lord'
