San Antonio minus 5.5 vs. Detroit (Large)

Some trends for those who like them first:

1- SPURS 11-3-1 ATS playing in 2 days rest

2- SPURS 8-2 ATS in their last 10 at Home

3- PISTONSare 1-3 ATS in their last four road games

Also, some stats...

4- Game 1 winners have gone on to win 72% of the Finals.

5- Game 1 winners have won 11 of the last 13 Finals.

Most importantly, many cappers and sports buffs keep saying this is a MUST game for Detroit, but it is just as important for the SPURS to not concede Home Court advantage after Game 2...

The SPURS didn't play well in Game 1 until the 4th quarter and it is because of what I saw happen then that makes me like The Spurs a lot tonight...

The SPURS are clearly the better team, they are in a rhythm, they are very focuded, so I would not advice going against them...

They give Detoit fits when matching up to Duncan and Gnobli. And the Pistons are ANEMIC on Offense...

Best of Luck,

THE SHRINK

Spurs seemingly are clearly the better team.
Det didnt show that much offensively against Mia but Wade got hurt so they advanced
Det has big matchup problems against SA
Duncan can seriously limit R Wallace's offensive production (though should score more than 6 pts)
Ben Wallace is a liability in crunch time with his lack of free throws plus can only score maybe 5-7 points.
It looks like Bowen CAN indeed guard Hamilton. I believe 6 of his points were on breakaways off turnovers. Need more than that
I was suprised to see the intensity Ginobili played with on D plus he is a pretty decent flopper

For Det to win Chauncey has to dominate 30+ points. He is basically the odd man out who the Spurs have trouble guarding but on the other hand, defensively, he cant seem to be able stop Parker from penetrating.

I'm playing both sides of this one. Det at V-wager ( $400) and more on SA a half better at free half shops, to turn the $200 bonus into real money ! Hitting the spread would work too.

Spurs will not start as slow coming out of the gate as they did on game 1.
Both teams will make some runs, but the Spurs will turn it on in the 2nd half and win by close to double digits. Total is too close to call in this game unless there is alot of fouling at the end of the game.

Goodluck everyone.

Boy, I am stuck agreeing with The SHRINK here. I tried to tell him game #1. And it could not have started better for Motown, 17-4, Spurs on their heels, 2 pop timeouts and then one badly placed elbow in Manu's midsection and things changed fast. Besides Billups no one is really going to be able to work their normal offense except him. He can post or shootover Tony and Beno. But 2nd options are hard to come by. Rip has Bowen draped all over him and missed a ton of forced shots. That's a disaster to start with, a well defended shot, but then, the Spurs own the boards. Timmy outrebounded Ben by 10!. Points in the paint, rebounds, that stuff kills you in a low scoring contest. Sheed may shoot more, but Timmy has it in for him. Prince had some opportunities on mismatches, but failed to convert. Ben lucked in one and scored one. This squad has no offense. Sad but true. If they even think about running the Spurs are ready. They slow it down, get a huge early lead and lose by 15. Crumble with one ugly shot after another. No movement, the world champion motowners settling for one on one guard play. I see some immediate adjusts. First, Manu is a stud, don't get me wrong, but having Timmy as the other man in a two man game is huge. Motown overcommitted to Timmy, way out and the defensive spacing allowed Gino a lane, in which no defender could rotate to. Close to a clear path. They had to gamble on Timmy, off Gino. Timmy was killing them. I just see them playing that pick and roll, two man up high game differently. Letting Sheed stay with him best as possible, no open lane. That worked with Parker on other wing, with Timmy. Motown has got to stop the penetration off the two man game or they will not have a chance. As far as offensive adjustments, I could see Bowen, cutting down on J's, pass or drive. 0-6 Pop doghouse. Stick with two man game, work the ball through Timmy. Leave guards on arc, get back on D. He can work two man or hit 3 point spotter. They missed some wide open looks I do not expect them to miss again. They want to push it, Timmy tells Tony, push it, push it, during game. They know the starters have nothing behind them. Spurs got a poor grade on transition scores. They failed to capitalize on many man advantage situations. You need those easy points. Motown, well, they are in trouble. Bowen is just a blanket, and they should look elsewhere, but can't. Billups will rock again. Prince looked uncomfortable in the heavy traffic physical nature game. A couple of good picks and screens and he became tentative. Sheed will have to score more, making Timmy defend. I see no other option as Ben is a slow afterthought against a quick defense like the Spurs. Remember what the Suns said, we have to play a perfect game to beat them. Motown's perfect game may not be enough here. Small play, as this is the game Motown keeps close. Spurs by 8.

Remember, teams that won game 7's in the 1st round...Dallas and Pacers....both went on the road with little rest and got crushed in gm 1. Same thing happened to the Pistons in the first one here. Also Phoenix with one day less rest lost to the Spurs in game 1 of their series. Not endorsing either side here, just reminding that the Pistons team in game one is not the Pistons team that will be on the court tonight. I think this game could go either way tonight. Good luck on your play Shrink.
I had 11 units on Spurs ML in game one and risked 10 units on Pistons + 250 to win the series before the first game. Tonight I'm hedging a bit with 1 unit on Spurs ML - 255 and bought one unit on Spurs series at - 360.

If only every year could be like 2002 playoffs IVAN. that was one hell of a capping display. I have never seen anything like it. you hit big dog ML's and everything. You were 18-2 at one point, I think. That was the year the celtics went to the confrence finals.

what ever happened to that site you started? anyways good to see you around

it was funny the way you always argued with alex, and he had to get a new user name every month becuase he kept forgeting his password

Well The SHRINK topped me with a large play, but I now am 7-0 L7 NBA Finals. Quite the run. However it was not close. This series could end quick. Nice game, decent earn. Great job The SHRINK, teamwork!
