I grew up in a very integrated neighborhood, school and state. I have seen much racism in everyday life as long as I can remember. I see sports as our best way to really mix together and feel true kinship. In life outside sport it seems to me, groups of people vary, but as a rule you usually seem to see people self-integrating themselves in their neighborhoods and schools, and churches. I do not have all the answers, or even pretend to, but i would like to see the world get along more like we do in sports. Somehow , we always seem to have this black/white thing hanging out there like a huge spector and very seldom does the subject get broached. OJ and Michael are miles apart but still the spector lingers unseen and unheard until it explodes somehow. Will we ever agree on this or will it always remain? Your thoughts, please!:toast:

Capn- Howard Stern grew up in a mostly black area as well as speaks as you do.

The problem can be solved as the line in the movie BULLWORTH said "Just keep on fuc---- each other until we are all the same race". Of course Halle Berry being in that movie made it pretty desirable. Blacks and white have more in common than rich and poor do so the divide many times is politically driven. If it was more of an economic issue than racial it would be accurate. Hard to get by the slave past for the states.

"The off-shore lifestyle" already is doing it's part to blend the races.:103631605

I think they hate racism Capn...
I know many black people, and I have many black friends, and they are GREAT.
They are very interesting and have their own style.
I think you get along with them as long as you truly respect them and consider them equals, because they are.
I love their music, I love them in sports, I love the way they dance and many many other things...

Censor the racist then, not the thread! I was trying to do something positive and you're telling me they moved it because someone might say something offensive. Well , shame on them!:sad3:

capn, i have 3 brothers that are bi-racial. soooo... i have seen/heard it all!!! we were raised in predominatly black projects our whole lives. i have had 3 black stepfathers.i have seen racism from both ends, from white people telling my mom was a ****** lover and from black people calling me a honky. from white people telling me my little brothers were monkeys to black people calling me a cracker! ive had white girls that wouldnt date me cause my family was black..... and black girls that wouldnt date me cause i was white!!! ive been called the WHITE SHEEP OF THE FAMILY and been called a WIGGER(WHITE-******) MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT!! racism goes way beyond black and white....... ive met people who dont like the jewish, people who dont like asians.....people who dont like italins!! thats right... A GUY ASKED ME ONCE IF I KNEW HOW GOD CREATED ITALIANS..... THEN TOLD ME GOD TOOK A ****** IN ONE HAND AND A PILE OF SHIT IN THE OTHER HAND SMACKED THEM BOTH TOGETHER AND SAID WHOP!!! i dont have the anwsers either capn.... but i learned early in my life that you cant judge a person by the color of their skin!! i also learned that the definition of a ****** is a low down dirty person... and belive me ive met low down dirty people of ALL ETHNIC BACKGROUNDS!! as sad as it may be... i think there will always be some sort of racism going on in the world! all i can do is try to teach my children that people are people, whether black, white, green or purple and to treat people with the same respect that you would want from them!! sincerly, shawn gotti:sad3:

I recommend the book Black Like Me by John Howard Griffin.

On October 28, 1959, after a decade of blindness and a remarkable and inexplicable recovery, John Howard Griffin dyed himself black and began an odyssey of discovery through the segregated American South. The result was Black Like Me, arguably the single most important documentation of 20th century American racism ever written.

Racism can be subtle or not so subtle. Is the percentage of black racists higher than , equal, or less than white racists? I don't know but I'm gonna guess it's about the same!:toast:

"Can a white person ever know how it feels to be a black person?"

Of course....assuming that Michael Jackson can remember 10-15 years ago
