What do you posters as sportsbettors rely on more.

With brick & mortar handicapping I am refering to such things as you keep detailed logs of all the teams, watch as many games as possible, etc., etc to determine your play.

Other means would be such simple or complicated means such as following line moves extensively, following others selections, betting systems, etc., etc.

Thanks in advance

A combination.

I do not keep detailed logs as this information seems to be readily available on the Internet now. I do whatch as many games as possible ( Football Mostly).

Then I do follow some posters here and always keep an ear to the ground for potential opportunities.

This and my own superior intelligence, skill, intuition and filipping coins.

I like that Fish. ."Brick and motar handicapping" never heard that one.

But yes (speking in football terms), I feel a lot more comfortable with my bets if I got to watch the two teams play last week. I perfer it, if not I need to find a fan of the teams in the forums and read up on what theyre saying. Or if theyre coming off a bye, I like to see what their past history with that coach is. I also like to see what the consensus is with the touts, and what percentage the public is correct when they move the line a certian way for both teams. Theres hoards of stuff to look at it. I cant blindly follow someone or use a system. It just doesnt hold up in the long run for me.

I try not to think about the line move in football and college hoops, becuase how am I supposed to know if it's steam (which often cashes) or public money (which can cash just as well) ?!?!

But why would you keep a detailed log of teams, when everything is extensively cataloged for you on the internet, is my question for you Fish. I'm sure you have a good response, but what is it?!

Did not necessarily mean keeping the log by HAND, but at least using an ONLINE LOG to handicap your particular sport or sports............which in essence is brick and mortar handicapping to this observer.

Thanks Rob, great response and answer you related to the forum.

I mostly just check out a few sites for match ups and stuff you can basicly find all you really need there and watch a few games. The only log I keep is for my records. I like to keep my handicapping pretty simple this is my daily routine for baseball.

1. Go to covers check out the match ups almost everything I need is right there its basicly all important to me whats on the first page of the match ups and I'll looks at the starters in depth link.

2. Second go to letitridesports and check out the stat fox match ups a lot of the stuff there I wont look at because its usless or I already seen it in the covers match ups I like stat fox match ups for totals.

3. If I'm still uncertin for a game I'll check out the cbssportsline previews somtimes I'll find some extra info there.

Thats basicly how I cap my games and I watch a lot of sports aswell

"Brick & Mortar" is a poor choice of terms. I don't know how you came up with it, but it doesn't make any sense. How about "meat and potatos"? :icon_conf

If your a serious bettor then never watch games UNLESS you can watch every team play every game. Watching a team play a good/bad game can distort your reasoning. e.g what about the other 2,5,13,46 games they played and what about the 2,5,13,46 games you didn't see the other team play. If sweating a game is your motivation then watching is required of course but if your in it to win $$$ then forget the TV and the moron announcers. Get your thrill from winning. My cardinal rule to handicapping is you MUST do the same work for each team.....Scotty

I use the steel and bristle method. After I am done capping I can play 301 or cricket.

Best Wishes...OF:howdy:
