I'm thinking of changing careers. While I currently work in the gaming industry (horseracing), I'm considering switching to the casino industry.

What are some decent casino jobs? I have 7 years experience in marketing and advertising, but I don't necessarily have to stay in those fields.

I'd be willing to do anything from dealer on up.

Suggestions are appreciated. :103631605

Worked in the business for 9+ years in Vegas........sportsbook.

I would recommend poker for one, it is exploding and you may get some good dealer job............GREEN DOBERMAN is your man for that.

If you are mechanically inclined, you may want to try your hand at SLOT MECHANIC............this is often overlooked by those wanting to get into casion life.

Security might be another option............KISS1 can help you there.

I would NOT recommend the RACE and SPORTs industry............bad pay.

Remember, you will be around alot of smoke and noise in all liklihood and you need to keep this in mind if such things as this bothers you.

ditto..... funnest job I've ever had, but very tough to make ends meet. What it does help with however is a good starting point to other better paying jobs within the industry. i.e. Casino host, manager, etc.

If I were you I would get a nice bartending gig.

I'll be out of town this weekend, but will be happy to answer any questions when I get back.

unfortunately still having problems in that area!

You're right though, in just a few years out there I learned from plenty of sharp people from both sides of the counter.

Industry pay sucks bigtime unless you are getting significantly tipped. Unfortunately in-house staff in areas like marketing get shafted unless they run the department.

Best places to make $$$ in a casino are valet parking (serious coin made in this), baggage valets, and bartenders as GD points out. Food servers can do very well in the right spots as well. If you are salaried you probably will get screwed and can make more doing a similar job outside the industry.

Good to know Wild Bill. While it sounds fun, I don't really want to scrap my career to become a bartender or valet.

Anyone know what it takes to be a pit boss? How much experience do you need as a dealer before you can get that gig? Does it pay well?

Thanks for the feedback guys.
