It may be a little early for most, but not here in the South, we talk football all year long.
I just heard him (Steele) on our local talk radio as a guest. I called in and spoke with him. He says that TN will be 3rd in the SEC East behind GA and FLA and that LSU will win the West and SEC Championship. These are 2 first time SEC coaches( Miles and Meyer) ahead of the winningest coach in the country, Phil Fulmer ????? He says talent and schedule over coaching. Can't say that I disagree, but our talent is as good as any (maybe not USC).

Sporting News has the Vols ranked #2 pre-season. We are usually overated pre-season. I feel we are a top 10 team, maybe 7th or 8th right now. I don't know if anyone will have anything for USC this year. Maybe Cal can pull off an upset this year.

Is this yearly publication a good handicapping tool for college football or is it just tout literature? I am interested in it, but it is $8 or $9

Any other pre season college football guides that yall can reccomend over the others

Volhound,

Stelle's College Football Yearbook yearbook is excellent, probably top 3, if not the best out there. I get it every year, lots of excellent info.

Definately worth the cash. Best college football magazine out there, and it involves the whole gambling thing as well. I'd pay $20 for it if I had to.

It`s A Great Mag!

Got the new one yesterday. Only one better is "Blue Ribbon" and it`s 27 or 28 bucks. Yeah the big surprise to me was the Boilers #3 Nat`l and Big 10 winners. USC has one of greatest O tms in the last 25 yrs. He likes the Utes again #11, 2nd tier schools Memphis. Lousy capper, but the book is the best for the money. Love the MAC, he likes Marshall. But 2 early gms @ Oh St & @Ga., WOW!!! Only 71 days to go, best time of yr.

You honestly think Fulmer is a very good coach? I think he's awful.

I wonder if someone can do me a favour and list web sources for the college football albums that ship outside the US? I normally end up on eBay, but always too close to the season to do the proper research.

Thanks

Was in Barnes & Noble yesterday lots of them are out. Saw some NFL. Disregard my mention of Marshall in previous post. Don`t know what the hell I was reading. Anyway Miami & BG MAC East, Toledo, N. Ill. West. The Herds` in the CUSA for C`s sake. 1st yr. May be a long year at this rate.

Santo,

Don't know much about the other pubs, but Phil Stelle requires Int'l customers to call 1-800-654-3448 prior to purchase. They have a decent site at ncsports.com, maybe they post an email address and will respond to your question without the phone call.

Good Luck.

I LOVE Phile Steele's annual, i never miss it, surprised its out this early though!

He has PURDUE #3 in the country???? Thats flat out wrong, Orton was an enourmous part of that teams makeup, without him i can't see the offensive machine coming back around so fast.

For what it's worth, a reminder that for those that purchase Phil Steele's College Football Annual whether it be through their offices or from the newstands, you are entitiled to his NFL Football Annual which is published in August for free.

Ted

he also said he will be coming out with a regional one here in few weeks with 6 pages dedicated to each team

Steeser
Nobody just "loves" Fulmer, he doesn't have the personality and I am not his biggest fan either but, he is a helluva recruiter. He makes no promises to these kids or their parents other than that he will take care of them.
He gets "W's" year in and year out in the toughest conference. I think he is an average gametime coach. He is not awful, somebody like Brad Scott, that is awful.
He does not have to defend himself - he is the winningest coach out there and has stayed fairly consistent for 14 years.
I can't think of anyone that i would want to come in here instead of him, but I would like some new blood in the assistant ranks. We have good ol' boy system and I would like to see some new ideas. Head coach, offensive coordinator, and defensive coordinator all played here.

It is out now at Barnes and Nobles. :103631605

More info on the Blue Ribbon FB Yearbook - You can order it before June 28 (?) and get it shipped FREE. Only 21.95. If you order it after that date, they charge 5.00 shipping.

Call them at 1-866-805-2255

One additional thing about Phil Steeles Magazine. He is offering seperate Big 10, Big 12, and SEC previews ($7 each + shipping or all 3 for $19 - free shipping). Should be a good FB season, great stuff coming out.

It's a must read....about as in depth as it could possibly be given the uncertainty that early in the year. If nothing else, it really gets the juices flowing for the season to start.
