The MNF crew is no more as Madden joins NBC Sunday Night Football for 2006.
What happens to Al Micheals? Does ESPN switch their present crew to MNF when they start doing it in 2006. NBC has made a big commitment because Madden gets a huge salary.

I have to say Madden is the most overrated announcer ever. Doesn't add all that much to the broadcast, certainly not enough to justify a huge salary.

Your opinion on Madden's announcing is not relevant. What matters is ratings, and historically Madden games have gotten higher ratings than non-Madden games. It's all about the money.

My opinion on Madden is relevant to me, though! I love the guy, I really do, and I've really enjoyed him over the years, but I do believe it is time for him to hang it up. Listening to his tired schtick is wearing on me. I wish him the best in all things, but HE'S TEARING ME APART!!!

I think Al Michael's is one of the very best ever. tulsa

Starting in 2006 NBC gets the sunday night gootball game and in 2009 and 2011 they also boardcasts the superbowl. MNF moves over to ESPN which leaves ABC which nothing since all there football programing is being moved to there sister company ESPN.

My gosh why can't the man just retire.....

Of course, when the day comes that he is finally gone, you know that we will have future threads here from time time time reminiscing about Madden and his past.......

ESPN hasn't decided what it will do with the Sunday night crew. A couple of things have to be sorted out first. The most noteable is Al Michaels and if he is going to jump ship to NBC or stay within the ABC family but he is looking down on ESPN since its cable which also has no rights to the superbowl in the new package.

Why would Madden retire. If you were him and someone is paying to between 5-10 million a year are you going to go oh im not as good as I was but in 1988 I think i'll pass on this money thanks for the offer. Of course you are going to take it Madden is still better than half of the colour guys out there.
