In the biggest font possible, I say:
WOW!
Absolutely fantastic movie. Undoubtedly the best super hero movie ever made, and a movie that may crack my personal top ten of all time.
The direction and editing of this movie is fucking perfect. The movie is "only" 2 hours and 15 minutes long, but with so much is packed in during that time it would seem impossible for it not to appear rushed and chopped to pieces.
This is so more more than an action adventure movie. You delve so deeply into Bruce Wayne's psyche that nothing needs to be explained. Everything about his origins is explained with nothing left for the movie goer to say :? . The best part is that within itself, the movie is believable. It's not like Spiderman where he gets bitten by a spider, develops his powers and the next thing you know, he's wearing his costume. Here, you learn where the costume came from and even how much it costs.
Christian Bale is absolutely phenomenal. I love how his voice changes when he's Batman, which emphasizes the dual personalities in Bruce Wayne. When he's fighting crime, it also allows him to release the anger that he holds inside when he's Bruce Wayne. Everything about this movie makes me wish I could purge all the memories of the previous attempts at Batman, even Tim Burton's vision. This movie should be required viewing for any aspiring director.
If I had to pick a weak point, it would probably be Katie Holmes. I just don't believe she was right for the part, but that may be my anti-Tom Cruise bias coming out.
Go see this movie! Now! On a scale of the price of admission, I give this movie $7.95 out of $8.00.
Again, I have to say:
