Nope if it was graded wrong in your favor you need to INFORM the book and they correct it. im sure you would let them know ..

A long time ago when I was ruthless and had no business ethics I had a bet graded wrong, in my favor, a winner that actually lost. My rationale, that is their incompetence, if they find it fine, if not mine. Very weak and bad attitude. Now, when double checking results and grading, if I find an error, I correct it, whether it benefits me or not. Actually had one recently, a dime mistake my way, Bet CRIS on a block prop. A tie graded a win. I immediately called them, and it was corrected. $1,000 mistake my way. They thanked me a lot, were generally surprised I called. I now file that under let your conscience be your guide. There are lots of options.

1. You know it is a mistake, and you hope they never catch it. You are in actuality a thief, and are stealing.

2. You know it is a mistake, and you just let it slide. You are still a thief.

3. You do not catch it, and should not be betting.

4. You catch it, you let them know, and cost yourself some free, unearned money. It is tough, I know, but easily the right thing to do.

Only you can choose the correct answer for yourself.

Best Wishes...OF:howdy:

Well... a long time ago, according to MLB.com, the listed starting pitcher did not pitch the first two outs. He was the pitcher of record and won the game.

According to this information my bet should have been voided but was graded a winner. To this day I do not know whether MLB or the book made a mistake. If it was the book no-one on the other side complained, I guess, and I wasn't going to make an issue of a gray area where I myself was unsure of the bet's correct grading. I had not seen the game and had no secondary source for confirmation.

Had a loser winning at Las Palmas once. Called them up, and the guy sounded annoyed I called, so he puts me on hold for 7-8 mins, at international dialing rates (I don't live in the US). He gets back, still annoyed, and says the mistake will be corrected... then he hung up.

Only reason I called was because emails kept bouncing.

Whenever there is an error, I usually give the book a few hours or until the next morning to correct it.....and they have figured it out all but once.

These days with computerised grading mistakes are a lot less likely to happen. In the old days when hand written tickets were graded by two different graders who later compared each players total for the day to make sure they each had an identical figure it was possible for errors to be made. Today there needs to be some kind of incorrect result or information (in the case of props) by a human entered for the computer to be wrong. Still it's important to never check a bad figure, if you do it will come back to haunt you one way or another.

It depends on the book. Has the book treated you well in the past? Has the customer service been adequate? Have you ever felt you were not treated fairly by the book?

HNYLOC,

An important fact to keep in mind...

Any time you hear about sportsbooks' reactions to people notifying them about mistakes in their favor you will notice they are surprised (and of course generally pleased) and often make a comment about how rarely such a thing happens.

Then when you see such a thread you'll usually see the majority of posters claiming they would notify the book.

Seems a bit contradictory doesn't it? When I observe the world and try to figure out how things work I generally watch what people DO much more than what they SAY they would do. Very often the two are different.

Having said that I have no reason to doubt anything that has been said in this thread so far...seems rather honest...some older threads about the same topic are loaded with BS, though.

I phoned Canbet about a 2100 error in my favor once. I got a simple thank you, which was fine. The next day I bet an MLB game on action (by mistake) and emailed them immediately asking that it be changed to to listed. The lines and pitchers had not changed at all, but they flat out refused. In the end it made no difference, but the point is that courtesy is a TWO WAY street ...

I emptied my account and haven't re-upped since that incident.

I would never inform them. I have been screwed out of money by dishonest bookies in the past and my trust level for any book is never too high. If they cared enough about the money, they should have gotten it right the first time. its not my job to make million dollar sportsbooks more money. I am pretty sure they can take care of themsleves.
