I hold Wild Bill's opinion in high regard. Well to be honest, I have no idea of the number of US players on line and I can't remember reading any other estimates of US players.
Bill...Can you let us in on where these figures came from . If you can't name the source that's ok...just tell us what you can...Are they from someone in the Offshore business or whatever...

What were these figures say about 5 years ago, etc.
As a horseplayer......I love the figs.....

It was a guess by someone, I can't quite think of who it was, but from maybe 3 months ago looking at Party and the others going public this year. I believe it was from the UK or Ireland.

The numbers make sense though. Figure 5 percent of adults have tried it and about 1 percent or so do it regularly. That passes my smell check. They mentioned the "trial" numbers are far higher in the UK and other jurisdictions where the legality isn't questioned, but the percentage of "regulars" turns out to be a fairly consistent piece of all the English-speaking adult populations.

Seems like a reasonable guess ...but I'm thinking it's a little low, because many people don't mention it like we do here at the RX...

Casino gambling participation rates are generally around 30-35% in society, with about 10% of those making up the vast majority of the earnings for the casinos. The numbers all pencil out well. Almost half of society never gambles "formally" including such simple things like buying lottery tickets.

Trust me guys, I read stuff on this every single workday to the point of utter redundancy. The rates of participation are fairly uniform. Its important to see this because it reflects on the fact that some advertising is generally not effective and some is. It also has relevance because while some think online gambling is in its infancy and has a long way to go, the rates and stats actually say its near its midway point in societal penetration. The only way to do better than these rates suggest is to create some buzz or trend, such as what we have seen in poker. Without big trends like that, online play would be getting near a maturing phase.
