Oregon State Beavers at Tulane Green Wave
Jonah Nickerson vs. Micah Owings
I try and try to find a reason why Oregon State is going to win this game. I can't.
Oregon State had a very easy road to Omaha. They are starting a right-handed sophomore (who has been great this year) with the #1 team in the country in Tulane, 25,000 fans, National TV, and a terrible tradition staring him in the face. It's not a coincidence Oregon State hasn't been to Omaha since 1952. Sorry Cinderella, but this isn't college basketball. This is college baseball where tradition, experience, and favorites reign supreme. Oregon State plays in a 2,000+ stadium, they'll go to Omaha where it's 25,000 plus.
Tulane starts Micah Owings, who is just flat-out a BASEBALL player. This guy lives and breathes for these moments. Half the reason he transferred from GA Tech was because they choke every year. He wants to be in Omaha, and now here he is. He plays the field, he hits, he pitches, he does it all, and he does it all very well. Tulane has the Omaha experience, they had a tougher road to get here, and they have big-game experience on their side.
My Line:
Tulane -200
Current Line:
Tulane -145
If someone put a gun to my head and said before these first round games, pick which game you think will most likely be a blowout, this is the game I pick. This is as close to a lock of the millenium as we will have for this tournament.
My Play:
(10 units) Tulane -145
