When baseball announcers says that, I think to myself who in this day and age still scores a baseball game. I've met a ton of people who have watched baseball for many many years and never one has ever scored a baseball game. Not knocking the practice just wondering if anyone does this??

one of the running gags of some announcers is they follow this up by saying, "and for those of you who are - congratulations" - as in :hump: :hump: :hump:

I did when I was learning baseball and we were getting one or two games a week on TV here in the UK. I found it a good tool to learn the nuances and such and it kept you focused. Nowadays I'm too busy flicking around TV and MLB.tv to do so, but still often do when I get to a game in person.

Its always a trip to go to a game and see someone with his scorecard out and his headphones on. I just don't get that, imagine what these people do when the playoffs are going. Keeping good records of a regular season game and tuning out all the noise so you can hear a broadcaster rant on about something you are watching right in front of you. Maybe I just don't get baseball, but I like it for its betting value...

I scored about 15 or 20 games when I was akid and they are neat to have now. I am definitely not a collector but I kept most of them. Of course, the game was a lot different then and I had a LOT more time.
I never understood why people bring headphones, a radio or a cell phone to a a game. If you want to talk on the phone stay the fu.. home! What's worse are those who leave in 8th to 'beat the traffic'. You can really beat the traffic by staying home and saving your time. It would be analogous to reading a great book and throwing it away before final chapter.
