I have had enormous problems getting paid on a winning sportsticket mailed into the Las Vegas Club (owned by Barrack Gaming), which is off Freemont St. in downtown Las Vegas. Supposedly, land-based Vegas books are supposed to be "safer" than offshore, but that is complete b.s. My latest e-mail to the Casino Manager of Barrack Gaming below says it all:
"Sir:
My name is ___________. On March 19, 2005 I placed a wager on Duke University -8 in the NCAA basketball tournament at the Las Vegas Club. The wager was for $520. Duke won by 8 points, meaning the wager was a "push" and I was entitled to a refund of the $520.
On March 31, 2005, after returning home, I filled out the back of the ticket and mailed it to the Las Vegas Club so a check would be issued and mailed back to me. I enclosed a self-addressed stamped envelope for the return. The ticket was received by a Mr. George Dill (signed the return receipt) on April 4, 2005.
It is now 2 1/2 months later and I am still awaiting a check for $520. I have left 2 phone messages to your accounting department with no response. That is why I am e-mailing you. Can you please let me know when payment will be forthcoming."
These guys are 100X worse then even the worse customer service in the offshore industry. They don't respond to phone messages or e-mail messages. The only live body you can get over there is a call center to book a room reservation.
I think my only recourse is to make a formal complaint to the Nevada Gaming Commission. Does anyone know how I can do that, or done of of those before?
