Do you just keep driving or moving along....even when you know you did nothing wrong? Happened today to me...I'm coming up the main road to my court, the guy flips me the bird for no reason...

I won't say what I did ...

I am curious, I know this happens pretty regularly , especially when people are in vehicles, the only place people may have more balls is behind their keyboards:digit: ...When someone flips you off do you just turn the other cheek...I'm sure more than a couple of us have been in this position .... its usually over something so ridiculously petty, when you think about it afterwards...

Some beach some where , done flipped me the bird :finger:

I laugh inside and ignore...........98% of the time anyway.

This happened about 4 times a day when living in Vegas, along with being pointed at by knives and guns.

Here in Tampa, it occurs only around once every 6 months.

I think it depends somewhat on where you are. Growing up in Ny it is a common gesture used all the time and no one really pays much mind but down here in Tn i think you would probably be arrested or given a hour lecture how jesus, moses and everyone else in the bible would not appreciate it:lolBIG:

Most will flip it as you exit the highway, or turn off , or in passing...they don't expect you to turn around and ask whats up...just something about traffic that really changes a persons temperament.

Growing up in the east coast getting flipped off was a hourly event , (once in awhile as a pedestrian).

When I moved to Vegas about 16 years ago they couldn’t build the streets fast enough and many four way intersections required nothing more than four stop signs and the honor system. I was blown away how everyone was so respectful, courteous, and laid back. Everyone would sit at their respective stop sign and wave to everyone else to go ahead. Everyone was smiling, saying their thank yous and insisting the other go first. In 2005 they are still waving things to each other but it’s no longer to go first.

I miss the old days.

I have this thing I do called the "shaker", in situations such as this.

And thats why they play the game.

I know i pop the bird pretty often, but of course only when its deserved....if there is one thing that gets under my skin is heavy traffic and bad drivers.

It really cannot be easily explained, but I will give it a shot. You take your right hand and give it the limp wrist in front of your face(nose specifically) so your fingernails are pointing at the target. Then you drop up and down a few inches three or four times. It sounds complicated but it really isn't and boy it can infuriate someone because it is mysterious and nobody knows what it means. Also found it to work well against hotheads at a poker table.

About 3 or 4 weeks ago I was sitting at a stop light at the bottom of an exit ramp of a interstate......there was a red right arrow and 3 weeks earlier I had been pulled over for running it.... a car pulls up behind me and starts to honk the horn to which I ignore. They continue to honk and honk....The light turns green and I go with them behind me.....we pull up to the next light and they (2 20ish guys) pull up next to me and are yelling something at me out the window.....I roll down my window as they can not see in my window when it is up.....I tell them to calm down and told them that I got pulled over for running the light a few weeks earlier......does not matter they continue to yell and insult me, so I calmly picked up my 44 oz drink that was almost completly full and threw it right at the moron in the passenger seat, completly drenching him.....he started to get out of the car when I rolled down my back window and he saw that I had another 5 guys with me and 3 of which are big enough to start on some D1 defensive lines. The light turned green and they passed me and proceeded to pull into the next gas station. I just continued on my way, but I am still waiting to come out of a bar or club and see my windows broke or something, so I wish I would have just let it go, but sometimes your emotions get the better of you.

I know what you mean Ace...its always better to just drive away...sometimes its not easy, especially when you feel violated for know good reason....

I had a guy once squirt some sort of chemical onto my almost new 3000GT , side by side at a stop light... I wasn't going fast enough for him I suppose. ..so he pulls out a squirt gun with some sort of paint eater in it....it didn't do any serious damage, but enough where I had to call the police with his tag.

Even though I would say the Majority gets furious when someone else gives them any sort of foul signal when driving, you have to stop and realize, that you need to use VERY GOOD JUDGEMENT when, and if you retaliate. There are far too many nutcases out there today that will just pull out a gun and fire at you or something else that could be deadly.........

When I was 13 my pop was driving me to school on a snowy december morning. a guy in a pick up cut us off so my dad starts honking the horn . The guy in the pick up stops his truck (a 2 lane road) and gets out. He looked like a construction worker (flannel shirt, wife beater undershirt, dirty jenas, unshaven and mean looking) He proceeded to take off his flannel shirt and started walking towards our car. we got plenty scared so my dad hit the gas, drove around the guy and got away.

It isn't worth the trouble.

It is also a demographic thing. The tri staters do it so often it is often ignored. I was shocked when visiting the prevalence of it. We had a big wig manager from New York, Armonk or White Plains, he was a medium if not slight build Italian guy. Had an ego that would put my oversized one to shame. So he is out here in the Bay Area, doing ride arounds with managers. My manager, a laid back black guy has his turn. So they are in a not so nice neighborhood, and he is in my bosses car. They get cutoff and pull up side by side next to the car that cut them off. The tri stater then unannounced rolls down his window, flips them off and start f-bombing them to no end. Needless to say my laid back manager just shit. "You are going to get us killed!" He says no problem, we do this all the time back East. Well, it may fly there, but when in Rome...Nothing happened, luckily, but why would you want to provoke some unknown people into actions that could be fatal, after being cutoff? They were not a threat, until he made them one.

Now on the receiving end. I was just leaving the dentist, not in the best of moods. Clearly not thinking straight. I am taking my two oldest kids to get halloween costumes and get off the freeway, and have to get over within one stop to the far left hand lane. This Mexican guy starts flipping me off. And he has kids in his car! I swear I did nothing wrong or to him, but he is just wigging out. The traffic is not moving, and I wish he would just go away. No such luck, he starts throwing cassette tapes at my car. By now I am next to him, in the left hand turn lane. I am still in an ugly mood from the dentist, and this guy just picked a bad time. So like a complete fool, I get out of my car and proceed to walk up to his, at first he was brave, he started to get out. I had him by about 50-60 lbs, and was pretty buff back then. He quickly gets back in his car, and I read him the riot act, in front of his kids, my kids, and all of the stopped traffic. You fucking *****, you try to start a fight and hide in your car. Also added some choice insulting Spanish words. I thought he was going to cry. He speeds off, and I turn to the halloween shop. Maybe 5 minutes in there a guy comes in and asks if anyone has a green Crown Vic. Yes, that be me. Some Mexican just pulled up and threw a board at it. Sure enough, he grabbed a 2 X 4 from a gas station, probably meant for me, but figuring I would take it from him and inflict severe bodily harm he threw it at the trunk lid. That was macho. Needless to say I got the hell out of there, counted my blessings and never, I repeat never acted a fool again. It was just not worth it. The only thing that restrained me from sidekicking his window out and dragging him out of his car and beating him senseless was I had my kids. To this day my kids remind me of that story, and I am actually humbled, a rarity for me, and I am better from it. That one stupid event could have cost me everything I care about. Never, get out of your car, and try not to acknowledge it. I learned my lesson, and a dented trunk lid was a cheap price to pay.

Best Wishes...OF:howdy:
