I never knew how terribly sad it would be to lose the family dog.

Poor guy couldn't breathe today and the vet discovered his heart failing.

Blood and fluid backing up into lungs as heart couldn't pump well anymore.

I have never put a pet to sleep and was not prepared for the wave of sadness experienced by myself, pregnant wife, and 6 and 4 year olds.

The kids cried and cried and my little girl even got her toy doctor set to save him. They still don't really understand he's gone. She said where is he when we got home.

We had him for 10 years and I guess I didn't realize how attached humans can get to pets.

So everyone out there, give your pet an extra treat tonight and a nice pat on the head, cuz when they're gone, it sure hurts.

Pets add so much to our lives, few words can describe the bond between animal and man...

My terrier Winston greets me everyday like I have been gone for a month, even though its only been an hour.....

lol kiss.....Isn't that a Shitzu?!?

I have a black one.........

I raised the little guy from a few days old after the mother rejected him. I could hold him in the palm of my hand. Got up couple times in the middle of the night, every night, to feed him with a little dropper/bottle.....

VERY SMART dogs.....

Yep, that's my baby, Molly. She is a very lovable 3 year old Shih tzu. We would be devastated if we lost her.

sorry about that Smoke

I had Doberman, witha Scooby Doo personality...dog was a legend in the neighborhood... A fluke illness, he came down with a rare blood disease and was gone in a short span from sickness to having to be put down, it was only about a week....easily one of the worst things to this day I have experienced ....seeing a dog so strong a few weeks earlier just suffering, and the dog was only 5 years old....I was so upset I walked home from the vet, cried the whole way...back in 1989 now

Holy,

I'm so sorry for your loss... I went through it last August and I still miss her. I've had to take two to the vet and I still rate those days as two of the worst days of my life.

I am sorry about the loss holy. I have 2 dogs that are my best buddies and are both 12.I can see them slowing down and it worries me that i am fast approaching the same situation. Just take time to remember all the fun you guys had and the unconditional love he/she gave and know he is running around playing in a better place.
I will probably have to be hospitalized when the day comes.I am real sensitive about this type of thing and animals in general and am practically tearing up (not afraid to admit it) as i really feel for you. It's weird, i can watch the news and hear about people getting killed, tortured etc.. and it doesn't really bother me but when they talk about animal abuse or killings it just burns me up and really gets to me.I windup changing the channel.go figure....

Again, my sympathies to you and the family.:sad3:
