Off Topic-- Mercedes Ml320 Oil Change

Got My Wife For X-mas, 3 Months Ago I Took It To Midas For An Oil Change, Cost 99 Bucks For A Synthetic Oil Change, In The Meantime I Saw A Coupon For 29.99 For A Synthetic Oil Change Of Course I Misplaced It. My Wife Just Got It Changed Again Today For Another 99 Bucks, No Biggy Of Course I Win Money Hand Over Fist, But Had Never Before Spent Over 19.99 For An Oil Change.

Can Someone Explain To Me A Synthetic Oil Change And How Often It Should Be Changed And How Much It Should Cost. I Realize Synthetic Oil Is A Bit More Expensive But Geeze!!!!

I Know It's Off Topic But Hopefully Someone Would Know.

Honestly, I think synthetic is worth the extra cost if you have a high dollar vehicle. Oil is just one of those things that is worth spending the extra money...you have too much to lose.

I may be wrong, but I've also heard that once you use synthetic, you are NEVER supposed to go back to regular oil. Anyone else ever heard this?

Also, just stick the manual as far as how often---most say every 5k now.

It is a better lubricant than regular oil. It isn't for every car though, you can't have an "oil leak" as the syn. will drip out much faster and you will be blowing a rod in no time.

My question though is: what the hell you taken a new Benz to Midas for? That is an accident waiting to happen buddy. The top of the line cars such as Benz, BMW's and new caddy's should only be worked on at the dealers. I know they may cost a little more than a ma pop or one of the chain oil lubes, but in the long run it will save you untold amounts of cash. As a matter of fact, you may already have waived any warrenty that your engine has because you didn't use an approved Mercede's dealer. Just some food for thought. They are real nice cars and I would hate seeing something bad happen to you.
