what are you planning to trade,, i have mucho experience, both good and bad.. i love trading commodities, the stories i could tell you man,, makes sprots betting pale in comparison..

$5,000, you will get $25rt or ill step in... and remember this is full service, you will be babysit and everything, call him as many times as you like each day,, price quotes everything..

i trade it all,, futures/options -- both buy and sell them.. its a big old exciting game jman,, hope you trade, so we can discuss it..

what are you interested in.. my favorite is to trade the emini sp, very fast game.

Still getting my feet wet SSI, I followed it very closely (paper trading for a couple years) up until last year or so....does this broker have a free charts service online where you can chart if you are a member?

I don't know emini at all...my uncle is big in it..he seems to have success at it, the Gold moves and energy moves over the past few yrs (up and down), he's done well with it.

loads of stuff on the internet, you can also pick up some good info on

"The Commodity Traders Forum".. i used to be very active there, i actually used to write an email newsletter, with paid subscribers.. i made some good money doing it but talk about pressure to be right...

its easy stuff to learn... futures are actually easier to learn than options...

safest way is to buy options, thats what you hear on the infomercials, but the ones making the money --- are the ones selling them, but dont do that until you are experienced,, and dont trade markets that arent very liquid,, gold is ok but stay out of crude oil,, 5k is nothing in there, unless you simply buy an option and hope... i dont do that..

i can tell you many tricks, both with options and futures,, pick a few markets,

study emini (which is nothing but the futures market for the sp 500 index)..
grains are great markets, corn/wheat/beans/beanoil/beanmeal.. sugar is ok, but stay out of OJ and CTN..... be careful in cattle and hogs, limit moves can trap you,, stops sometimes mean nothing in fast moving markets..

scariest thing in the world and i mean scary -- is to be trapped overnight in a limit move against you and cannot get out..

I like reading your thoughts on it SSI...maybe we can meet down here in the mornings...I know 5k isnt much in some markets...I would like a broker that has a free online chart service...is there anywhere you know of? Are you familiar with Ken Roberts? 1-2-3 tops and bottoms?

if you get set up, ill help you,, ill put you in a good trade or two to start out,, 5k is fine to start.. id trade single contracts however with some wider stops, you got enough margin, to stay overnight in most markets,, do one at a time and slow walk your way through..

i did a trade or two on here but i dont have the time to do that much, but ill take the time to help you, if your interested...

i made around $1100 on the short wheat and long corn, spread trade that i did here,, if your serious about this, ill help out with Nick,, ill make sure things are done right, we talk alot each day..

Agreed 25 rt is cheap. I pay 15 rt at Refco, but I dont get calls from any brokers (I also dont want them bothering me), so Refco works best for me.

Keep in mind that we are in midst of a commodity bull market and for the most part, one should look for spots to add to long positions and maintain long positions throughout the bull market. Try and avoid being short during the bull market.

Many have been saying oil would 'pull back' since it began rising from under $12.

Another must with trading commodities is that leverage works both ways. The leverage is rope given to blow small players out of positions. If one is going to trade, maintain plenty of 'wiggle room' in case of consolidations.

Best of luck to you J-man.

Jman, quite honestly Ken is a joke, he gets laughed at, something like wayne root or jim feist...

however ken can teach you some of the basics.. 1-2-3 tops and bottoms are pretty simple and dont work most of the time,, the better way is to -- play support and resistance points with stoplosses placed outside of set channels,, this way you are not killed on breakouts..

we can start slow, go to commodity traders forum and pull up their free charts. they are pretty good..

when im really into this, ususally in the fall and winter (more time), i hand chart my markets..

ill dig up a trade for you this weekend, then you watch it monday and we will talk a little about what happened and the market action... corn is a very liquid safe market to start with, margin is low... $50 for every cent that it moves..

$50 for every cent, corn/wheat and beans moves.. beans can move alot in a day btw..

feel free to ask me any ???? and try to learn some basics, dont believe all the horror stories.. if you keep your head and know what your doing, you will be ok and can actually make some good money doing this,,,,,, most people simply dont know how...

Its funny you say that about Ken...lol, my Uncle swears by him, and he's a priest on top of it....I always got the impression Ken was a bit of a tout/ marketing machine type just reminded me of a sports tout more than anything....okay, let me get the funds sent in next week and we can get started!

a lot depends on what kind of trader that you want to be... im more of a short term swing trader, i like to sell a few options along the way...

getting married to a posistion can also be a bad thing...

woof, my man dont call me proposing a trade, id drop him in a minute if that were the case,,, he calls when i tell him to set his price alert for me,,, ill say,, let me know when the emini trades down to 1200 or let me know when corn hits 240 bushel,,,,,, things like that..

Agreed, dont believe the hype and horror stories about commodities. Most people get hanged because they overtrade and use too much leverage.

Get long, stay long and build some solid positions for this is the bull market of the next decade.

Corn and/or grains are primed for a massive upside breakout as soybeans have been leading the way. I have long positions in wheat, soybeans, and corn.

Also long crude oil, sugar, and oj.
