Before I got Neteller, I used Western Union to send funds. At that time, the only accounts I had were BOS and WWTS. I remember getting paid by check, because it was the easiest option. I remember that both companies wrote a check from a bank in Miami. It was a bank draft, not a personal check or anything, but it still almost looked fake. I remember laughing about it as I went to deposit it, not knowing if the check would clear or not. I have two questions. I remember a guy at a bar telling me that he played offshore, and he said to cash the check, don't deposit it, because they can't track it and there is no paper trail if you just cash it. Was he right, and it is not traceable? My second question is how do these offshore companies have US bank accounts? Could the gov't ever seize their funds? I remember that both of these checks were exactly the same, except for the amounts. And I know that BOS and WWTS are not related. I don't know why I just thought about this now, since I use Neteller and am very happy with it. But I'm sure my bank is probably like :WTF: if they ever look at my bank statements with all the Neteller in and out transactions. Anyone have any insights? And has anyone's bank ever called them and asked WTF NT is? Thanks.

I could be mistaken but i was under the impression that banks only pay out cash only to a certain amount...1k or below or something like that and the rest can be picked up after a business day. (In which case the money actually does hit your account. So forget that thing about not leaving a paper trail...I dont know of gas stations that cash over 1k but if they did then take that route..(If you take the check direct to the issuing bank you get straight cash for the full amount i think)
Bank transactions whether cashed or deposited always leave a trail...(one even leaves behind your thumb print)

If your balance is greater than the check they should cash it.

is there any paper trail with NETeller ATM? One that could get you in trouble with the IRS?

the owner of the ATM obviously has track of what cards withdrew money from it

the thing is, the neteller card doesn't have the account holder name BUT there is more info encoded in the magnetic stripe, the question is, what (if any) info is encoded, is the card holders name? may be the neteller account number too?

One of my books sends checks via fed ex off a canadian bank, I deposit them, the bank does its standard 2 to 3 day hold until it clears and then I'm good. Been doing this for over 3 years, and never a problem.

posts mentioning papertrails and IRS are not advisable.

asking for trouble imo.
