Shrink lives in the Norfolk area. He and his wife speak very highly of it. Your red state views would find lots of company there Blue. Its the home area of Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell isn't far from there either.

not a big fan of robertson or falwell but, yes...i am a red stater. thanks for noticing.

i kinda think housing might be kinda pricey. that survey has me intrigued...i might take a trip out there in the fall and check it out.

I went and saw Shrink in November, very nice then. A bit chilly, but not too bad. Housing prices weren't that expensive, but that is all a matter of perspective I suppose. Lots of military employees around there with the shipyards and naval bases. Traffic was pretty bad and I hear it is always bad during rush hours due to all the water around there. And if you want to hit Vegas regularly Southwest has a daily nonstop.

i live in chicago now and the winters are killing me. every year it gets worse. i want to move to a more moderate climate. my brother lives in phoenix...i dont think i can handle 90 consecutive days of 115 degrees either.

my main concern would be the housing prices and the job market. traffic sucks everywhere. yesterday aftenoon i had to drive from the northwest suburbs to the chicago loop (about 35 miles) to close a deal...took 1 hour, 50 minutes. i can handle anything (except maybe boston or ny traffic but, i would never want to live there).

i have heard good things about va. i have some good equity in my house so, i could probably buy a house between $300-$350k. that gets you a mansion some places and a condo in others.

If you want moderate weather and don't need to be near the water look into the Raleigh area. Just a little too boring and religious right for my tastes, but I have family that lives there and raves about it. They used to live in Florida and hated it, saying Raleigh was so much better. The houses are cheaper than in Norfolk, tons of decent paying jobs and near non-existent unemployment, college sports heaven as I am sure you can surmise, and the beach is about 90 minutes away.

actually, no, not happy.....was hoping you would run it up to 50K. I did ask a while back, and you said you were not doing good......but I was hoping to hear your luck turned. Sorry, but still a nice win, you'll get em' next time.

I did that test awhile back and got Pittsburgh as my number one city and Detroit as my number four. Needless to say those tests will never do more than just provide very basic suggestions.

Apparently I would be happiest in Little Rock, New Orleans or Providence. Never been to any of those places though NO has always intrigued me.

Interesting quiz.

Worcester Mass for me

I am only 25 minutes from there. I have to say I like where I am better. But I could get used to Worcester. All the towns in Central MA have a good mix of lifestyles, and everything is incredibly accessable. I can be in Boston in less than an hour, NYC in a few hours. .I wouldnt mind living in Manhattan, I could get used to an upscale life where it's heavily populated and most everyone rides subways
