How long before business could be conducted and would it matter if you had cash money on hand? I am starting to think I need to join the NRA and be ready, if that would even be possible. Besides having extra water and canned foods , what else could we do?

It would really suck, I would have to get in the car and drive several miles to rent porn videos again.

Now that is a tough life.

"As far as my life, would only be an inconvience."

All computers go down. That means that the computers that are used in hospitals to process images/get diagnostics so when you are sick you can't get that test that would immediately tell you "ah sure you need 'x' "

Lets asume that such computers don't go down. Well now you know you need 'x' but 'x' is not available as the computers that are used to request/keep track of the inventory of such drug/computers of the shipping system etc are down so we don't have it

On top of that we are not really going to accept you as we don't know if you are insured or not so you have to pay cash for everything

Ah you don't have cash? or you have it in a bank? sorry those computers are down too

Assuming you have cash in a safe you can go/get it and bring it back and then we MAY examine you using 19th century technologies

But wait , there is a computer in the car! so if thats down your car won't move.............

So computers run
1) tracking systems
2) sales systems
3) transportation systems
4) bank systems
5) life support systems such as machines in hospitals/CAT scan machines/etc
6) security systems such as the alarms and also used by cops in their very cars

I don't think we realize how depend everything is, there was a series called "Connections" by a brit called James Burke that actually shows how everything is dependent on the "next system"

I remember that series that aired on PBS. It was very entertaining.

Oddly enough, the thing I remember most about it was that after the black plague (where 1/3 of the people in Europe died) people were richer per capita. The amount of money stayed the same, there were fewer people who had it.

I am glad someone remembers that series, my wife thought I completely lost it when I bought it on dvd (it was EXPENSIVE) but its one of the things I remember when I was a kid, watching that series on tv and each episode was scarier than the other one, the first one is about what Captain Crunch describes, pulling the plug on all technology............

The second episode was about a blackout in NYC in the late 70s , by episode 3 I was asking my dad if we needed guns in case something like what was shown on the series actually happened :lolBIG:

Capn,

My life certainly would change since I make my living via my computers, but life would adjust.

Did you build a bunker/bomb shelter for the Y2K hoax? Check the radon level in your home for you are getting crazy on us this afternoon.

"but life would adjust"

at a big price of course

we can forget about the life we've had and going back to 19th century ways.......and also.....the population of the world is a lot higher than 100 years ago, many many things would face "scale problems" so doing things they way we did before might not work with so many people in

one thing would be good though, computers down..........credit card company can't tell me how much I owe them :smoker2:

:lolBIG: No, no bunkers! Just a thought about something that 'could' happen! I'm not advocating any actions but you have to admit you have probably wondered the same thing!:toast:

I am a gun owner and I have always kept extra food at home. The extra water I keep under the kitchen sink is for the aquarium.
