Hes about to go over 2500 hits, he missed 4 years playing in Japen or he may have 3000 hits already. Who knows, he may play another 5 years and get 3000 hits anyway. I think he has an outside shot.

interesting question, playing til the age of 47 and still batting 5th on a national league team is just incredible ...even if he plays 30% of the time now days...lifetime .300 hitter....had he not went to Japan (even though it was somewhat forced) he would be around 3000 hits which is an automatic ticket....

My vote will be NO....unless he somehow reaches 3000 hits, incredible story though.

Another tidbit about Julio...as we all remember he was a 30 stolen base threat for many years, I believe he did win a batting title with Texas, remarkably he didn't really break in til age 24 , so he started pretty late for a guy with that many hits

No he won't get in unless he gets 3000 which is doubtful. Its been said before its the Hall of Fame not the Hall of Good when has Juilo ever been considered one of the top players in the 80's or 90's. While a great player with a batting title and gold glove i believe. I've never once talked baseball where Franco's name came up as a top 5 player in any point.

No offense, but this isn't even worthy of discussion.

No offense, but there is a good chance the guy will get 2900+ hits. Name 1 player in Baseball history with 2900 hits not in the HOF not named Pete Rose.

Chop, do you really think Franco has 400 hits left in him? That is pushing it.

If he can play the rest of this year and 4 more years. I think hes unbelievable. He just keeps getting better and better.

Tonight he broke his own record becoming the oldest player in baseball history to hit a grand slam. The other night he broke the record for oldest player to hit 2 homers in a game. Hes unreal!!!!!!!!

While im not D2, i'll answer it no. When was Juilo ever considered an Elite player, he may be batting 5th in the braves lineup but you don't see pitchers pitch around him. If he was a hall of famer he wouldn't of been out of a major league job for 4 years. Maybe if this was the NFL hall of fame he'd get in but he picked the wrong sport to last this long in.

I agree, I was just making the comment, he's batting in the heart of a National League order for a team that makes the playoffs and he turns 47 in 2 months:103631605

His longevity is impressive and neat, but it's not a HOF qualification. He's never had a 100 RBI season and never hit more than 20 HR's. That's unusally low for a 1st baseman. And while a .300 is nice, it's just not earth HOF material.

I suppose if he really does have 3 more good seasons, plays until 50 and tops 3,000 hits then he might deserve some consideration, but he's quite a bit away from that.

By the way I had Braves +143 tonight, so big props to Senior Franco!!

I dont believe Pete Rose ever had 100 RBI either or hit more than 20 homers. By the way Julio did hit 20 homers in a season before if memory serves me right.
