6 innings and only 1 run given up so far! The cubs are going to win the wild card and will be the team nobody wants to face in an NL wild card series.

What day is the parade so I can book my hotel room ahead of time. One good start against a sup .500 team does not make a team's year and Kerry Wood isn't exactly a big game pitcher either. The Cardinals are still the best team in the NL and I would even say that San Diego is better than the Cubs as well considering that I would rather have S.D bullpen than the Cubs.

However good luck the rest of the way it would be nice the Cubs finally win one.

Mark Prior (the best pitcher in baseball), Carlos Zambrano, Greg Maddux, and Kerry Wood - which team has a better starting pitching staff?

Rusch and his 3.13 era aren't bad either.

team with the better numbers and guys that stay on the roster. As starters, cardinals era is 3.77, Cubs 4.31. Cardinals starters have 43 wins, Cubs 26. Who cares what their names are, I'll take results. Typical cub fan comments though! Thanks for posting to show cub ignorance!!

When Mark Prior can throw 200 innings for an entire year then talk about him being the best pitcher in baseball. I'd much rather have Roy Halliday and Johan Santana than Prior. The Cubs bullpen is average at best and without a good bullpen come playoff time there toast. There whole offense is Derriek Lee everyone else is just an average ball player.

The whole season means didly come playoff time. If the cubs win the wild card, they can have those four starters pitch every game. I'd rather have mark prior starting any given game than anyone else. They can also use Rusch in the bullpen which is a big boost.

If this while season means nothing why are you jumping for joy over one start in the middle of the season from Wood. The Cubs have no offence aside from Lee who won't see a pitch come playoff time. The Cubs best shot was in 2003. Unless there pitching is lights out there offence just won't get it done even if the Cubs get the wild card.

P.S Dusty Baker is also your manager

Cubs win 4th in a row. 4 runs allowed in last 4 games. You can win a lot of games giving up an avg of 1 run per game.

Call me crazy, but the Cubs are going to make a run at the Cards for the division. Cards will hang on, but it will not be a runaway.

fade wood next time...

Looks like he'll next pitch on July 4th in Atlanta vs. Kyle Davies. Wood has had a lot of success at Turner Field in the past, regular season and playoffs. Not sure I'd fade him there. Depends on the price, I suppose.

not really a fair statement since you have never bet against the cubs in your life.

I'd rather face them than the Marlins.
