This game, in a microcosm, illustrates Florida’s weaknesses perfectly for the season. A desperate need to put Mike Lowell out to pasture before he hurts himself any further, a horrific bullpen, and a center fielder that has been Stan Laurel to Lowell’s Oliver Hardy.
I liked this team so much in April. Today I think they should start unloading A.J. Burnett, Encarnacion, Juan Pierre, and release Lowell. Let Castillo lead off, give Jeff Conine the playing time that he deserves, and start putting a bullpen together.
