Should I re-up with Guardian?

Last fall, I sent large dollars to three off shore sports books. Guardian Guaranty, BoDog and Wagermall.

I funded all three accounts with cashier's checks that were FedExed to them.

I decided to call in all my money midway through the season. On Monday, Ocotber 18th I had $25K with Guardian, $19K with BoDog and $33K with WagerMall.

BoDog and WagerMall both paid promptly.

However, Guardian took my payout request and the CS folks acted like nothing was wrong. I called them two days later, still no tracking number. I can't remember what the excuse was, but eventually the excuse became this: You posted up with a cashier's check and we will not pay you until we are 100% certain it has cleared.

They received my post up check around Sept 1 and it had been 6 weeks. I remember talking with a guy named Mark Williams at Guardian and he insisted that it can take over 6 weeks for an international check to clear. I called my bank, Bank One, and asked them if it could in fact take that long to find out if an international check has cleared or not. They confirmed that it could take that long.

Long story short, Guardian paid me my entire payout request but it did take 16 days from the first request until I had a check in my hands.

Another thing that bothers me, and it probably shouldn't, but when I was on the phone with Mark Williams of Guardian, I explained that I was leaving all the funds in my 105 account...$6K...and that I was not requesting payment on that. For whatever reason, I've got a funny feeling that had a lot to do with me getting paid too. But it's probably just my imagination. You have to realize, at the time, I was afraid I was going to get stiffed.

Well, if you were me and you were looking for some solid books this fall, would you or wouldn't you consider Guardian Guaranty? I think any book that pays north of $20K without making the player get the Shrink and General involved is probably worth considering, but I did have to worry about getting stiffed for 16 VERY long days.

Thanks,

I just opened an account with 5Dimes in June.

I amtrying to find a list of 10-12 books that I could be safe with a $5K deposit and then take winnings back to Neteller once the balance reaches $10K.

I think I can avoid Guardian if I decide to, but they did pay what they owed me...it just took a while. Should I re-up with them?

Glad you got paid at all three books. That's a lot of money to trust with Wagermall(D+ rated by SBR), do you plan on using them again? Never hear much about Guardian, why take the chance though, there's plenty of good books that will pay without batting an eye. Time is money and 16 days is a little too long to wait for something as easy as a payout request.

They are part of the tradewinds group if I'm not mistaken. I would feel safe with a large balance there.

Yes... Tradewinds = Guardian = Infinity = Badlands

BetOnSports = Wagermall = Millennium = lots of others

I am very comfortable with my money at any of the BOS books.

Anyone know if First Fidelity is part of the little Nasa group?

First, Infinity doesn't belong there ... substitute Regency.

Second, no First Fidelity isn't a part of that group.

First Fidelity is with Payoffs Plus - definitely not with little Nasa. Freddie Harris would bitch slap Rizzo of the Betus,Little Nasa, Omni group for the scams they pull. First Fidelity pays faster than any other book, just like cold calling and don't call from your girlfriends house - they use caller id like you told them, please call me at this number anytime and all the time.

Guardian is a safe book. That 10% interest is good too. I feel real safe there. They have been around forever. Tell Butch that Shack said hi.

Here is a list of books I have compiled that I think are safe place to post up. If any of the books are part of the same group, please advise.

1.) BoDog (CR)
2.) BetOnSports (CR)
3.) Guardian (CR)
4.) CRIS (CR)
5.) VIP (Curacoa)
6.) MVP (CR)
7.) Hollywood (CR)
8.) Pinnacle (Curacoa)
9.) 5 Dimes (CR)
10.) WWTS (Antigua)
11.) BetUs (CR)
12.) Olympic (Jamaica)
13.) First Fidelity (CR)
14.) WSEX (Antigua)
15.) Bowmans (South Africa)

I would really like to have a few more non-Costa Rican sportsbooks on this list if anyone can recommend. I am afraid of the potential to lose a lot of $$ when the big quake finally hits in San Jose.

BetonSports sticks out like a sore thumb as a book that doesn't belong on amy safe list - as does BetUS. They are both on my personal DO NOT TOUCH list due to multiple independant complaints over a long period of time.

If you haven't had trouble with them, consider yourself lucky to have gotten away with playing with fire - and don't push that luck.

Thanks Groucho. I have figured out that BOS is not well liked around here, but until they screw me, or until I read a "mybookie or royal-like" thread about them I will trust them with 10% of my bankroll.

Same seems true of BetUs. They are not well liked on this forum but I haven't seen anything real bad about them yet.

I did have SBG Global on my list until a few weeks ago when I learned that they stole money from Shrink.

As far as you know, none of the books listed above are of the same group, right? Is BetJamaica the same as Olympic?

They are.

I'd suggest you go to SBR's rating list and select "Sort by: Software provider". That'll give you a better idea.

I had a copy of Jim Feist's 03 baksetball preview. Lot's of advertisements from Guardian, Badlands & Tradewinds in there.

Hey...isn't MVP owned by BetOnSports? They are listed as a WagerMall book.

Guardian is solid. I used them in the past for the -105 club, but eventually they lowered my limits to $200 so I left. They always payed out prompltly to my neteller account.

Yes, I think Guardian is solid too. I will play with them this fall if they allow me to come back. I beat them pretty bad last year, so if they won't have me back I will understand.

Did they lower your -105 limit to 200 also?

Very smart decision to take Betus off your list. If Mike Foreman makes ammends on past thievery then it could be a different story.

<HR style="COLOR: #fdde82" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->Wow! Interesting read. That is one helluva dead beat story. The part about the phone calls not being returned and how this Rizzo guy was NEVER in the office...unreal.

I will remove BetUs from my list of "safe" books that I posted earlier.

Whew! What a nightmare!

I am not nearly as concerned with BOS as some are. In my time I have dealt with 2 diputes involving BOS and currently have an open door of communication with them if needed. I cannot speak bad of BOS myself. They even messaged me wishing luck recently and stated they will be available if any issues arise. Nice of them to do so and keep a door of communication open.

Here's hoping that you never need any assistance from an arbitrator BWE. :toast:

Good luck sir
