ot Smokers vs Non Smokers

In Vegas recently I was sitting in a bar when a wrinkled hag with a smoke hanging off her lip shoved her face beside me trying to get a drink from the bartender

When I asked her to point her cigarette in another direction she said "get used to it honey, you're in a casino". I then told her to "get on back to your trailer park cupcake" and by way of clever retort she blew a greasy lungful of second hand smoke in my face.

Now, it's not the rudeness that I faced from this wrinkled old hag that surprised me (you expect that kind of crap in Vegas), but why do smokers think that they have a God given right to exhale anywhere they please?

If I spilled a drink on your shirt would you chalk that up to me being a "drinker"? No, you'd punch my lights out, as well you should.

If I farted while sitting next to you, you'd think I was a pig

Why is it different for smoking?

Any of you lung cancer wannabes have a comment for me?

I smoke and I try to be very careful about the smoke around non smokers, so she doesn't represent all of us.....

Smoking is disgusting...

I feel sorry for smokers, I know they don't mean harm and probably wish they never started elevating their heart rate for all the wrong reasons......smoking takes 7 years off the avg smokers life , if that isn't enough to stop I don't know what is....worst thing ever invented.

been smoking for 40 years, hell I wish I could quit. had cancer three years ago, its bad news.young people take notice, don't ever start.

i tell my kids to never smoke, i tell them how dumb their father was to ever start....i tell them almost daily....i hope they listen!

simple solution

get one of those small handheld battery powered fans (my guess is they are a few bucks at most pharmacies and similar places) and bring it with you the next time you go to vegas or anywhere you know there will be people smoking

when someone holding a cancer stick in their hands sits next to yuo and blows smoke your way - blow it right back at them

if they try and say antyhing/object to this saying you don't have a right to do this tell them if they stop smoking you will put it away and that the same right they have to smoke is the same right you have to hold this

a decent percent of the time the belching smokestack will get pissed off at you - and leave

THIS is why living in CA is AWESOME! it is 100% ILLEGAL to smoke inside so this is not a problem or anything we have to deal with here

bars, casinos, bowling alleys, restaurants (the indoor part - sadly they can smoke outside), etc. - illegal to smoke inside

i'm very careful about where i smoke, because none of my friends or family vote, except at work. however, i bring up this quote from comedian doug stanhope every time the topic of smoking comes up:
"Start the argument where it starts. I have the right to do whatever the hell I want to my own body, if it kills me slowly, happy for me, fuck you, stop me."

I have ZERO argument with what he says - ZERO

what i - and most others - object to - is when that smoke drifts into MY airspace

NOW - your right to smoke is infringing on MY right NOT to smoke - or have to breathe that stuff

in this instance - MY right is gone - superceeded by YOUR right to smoke - and that is WRONG

it is my right to freely swing my arms around. but the second i hit you in the face with my wild swinging arms(s) - YOUR right has been infringed upon and what i am doing i WRONG

and of the 2 - it is easier to control my arms than your smoke. THIS is what non-smokers get most upset about - careless smokers who don't care where their smoke goes - even if it is in our faces

The airlines should have to install fans that suck up the smoke so customers can smoke and not bother anyone else! :smoker2:
