lost almost a grand yesterday and decided to take the day off today, not only from posting, but from betting all together. IS THIS A WISE MOVE? i was up about 2,500 ytd and lost about a grand YESTERDAY. went about a week seeing some weird shit...tons of blown save, massive comebacks late in games, pitchers leaving games early, blown calls by umps, piss poor management, etc....all in games which i was on the other end!!!
my goal, as is all of ours, is to play with house money. when i lost almost half in one day, i thought, should this call for a DAY OFF? i am a HUGE fan of getting "back on the horse". obviously i wouldnt be betting if i hadnt had past success. does anyone share my view on "TAKING A DAY OFF", or do you think it would be better to comeback immediately to avoid losing an opportunity at an immediate comeback.
all thought welcome---max

Take enough time to where you can put the past week behind you. If you lost a grand last night that means you let the emotions from the past week get the best of you. You were on tilt last night. This is the part of the game that separates the winners from the losers. This capping business is not about just picking winners, its emotional warfare and nothing less. Until you can place a wager without thinking about all the bad beats stay away.:103631605

Your mind needs a break from time to time, the law of averages calls for nights like you had last night. It happens. Just pick your spots carefully and do what you have been doing. Just don't try to get back the 1k in a too fast a rush. Stay on the coarse that got you there. You have to look at the big picture and not let last night eat you up. The closer we got to the all star break unexpected things can happen. Some players and or teams will start their vacation early/mentally.

Against most people's advise, I've never liked flat out taking a day off. I'll cut back on my plays, but you never know if it's a one day thing or gonna be for a stretch.

Some of my biggest winning days have come right after some of my worse. No lie.

It might also be that your just betting too much per play or too many games if a night of few or no wins with many losses gets you questioning. You have to be very comfortable with the amounts you could lose to make smart decisions.
Just my opinions.

One other note about sports like baseball. Sometimes when guys have a losing run of several days ther are reasons behind it other than that "it was due" or they're not thinking clearly. Sports bettors sometimes tend to bet certian teams a lot. Let's say you like to bet the Cards and the Red Sox a lot. If your TEAMS go into a losing run, then so do you. Nothing to do with anything you changed or being on tilt. That's something you have to watch out for, but once you regonize it you have a powerful weapon against losing streaks!

Sometimes when I have a losing day I double up the next day on just ONE bet. Not the first AM game, not the game on TV, but the game I like the most. Yeah sometimes I lose the double up game and then take some time off... but if you hit it then you just keep on rolling, baby!

THe trick is to separate your "speculative" bankroll from your "regular bankroll". I take all my winnings and put 10% in a "speculative" bankroll. This is where I can do crazy things that are not advisable under normal money management rules, like doubling up after a loss and betting the max at all your outs on one game you really like.

This may be too agressive for you, but works great for me!
