Why in the hell, other than money, would he want to coach the Trailblazers?

Their is alot more upside out here. Richest owner in the League. He wants to win, and will spend money, unlike other franchises that go thru the motions. This whole roster is being overhauled so who cares what past malcontents like Wallace, Wells, and others did to knock this franchise down.

Portland is in a lot better shape than Seattle in my opinion. Telfair is going to be a monster at PG or SG if they move him. Randolph has developed into a solid player. The owners have made it known they are going to clean up the image so I think they can bring in another quality player via trade. They also just drafted that high school kid that everyone loves.

Seattle has 5 key parts to last years team that are free agents. Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis are a dynamic duo...but that team isn't going anywhere without some defense and post players. Their only 2 rebounders besides Fortson are free agents.

Portland is a basketball city. That use to be the toughest place in the league to play.

I agree with you that Portland may be better in the long haul that Seattle. Portland has a nice point guard to build around, in Telfair. They will not move him to SG, as he is too small. They drafted a shooting guard out of high school that everyone is crazy about. He has a great jumpshot from what I have heard. Randolph is a very solid player that is capable of putting up 20 and 10 as soon as he learns to play the game the right way. They are still rebuilding, but the future looks bright for the JailBlazers. As for Seattle, they have Robert Swift to build around. Enough said.

Of course Portland is rebuilding for how can they be doing otherwise after last season? I agree they are doing the right thing in bringing in a decent coach and hopefully they spend some money getting solid free agents.

However, this team has a LONG way to go and the nba is filled with high schoolers that at one time 'everyone' was crazy about and guys that when they 'play right' can put up 20/10.

I would have rather seen the Seattle ownership give Nate a contract and allow him to continue with the Sonics. He has certainly put in the time there to deserve the best offer.

Anyway, the Blazers suck and I was suprised to see him go there, but of course money talks in the nba and elsewhere.

The Blazers suck? They might finish ahead of Seattle next season.

Randolph averaged 18.9 and 9.6...is that considered playing right?

That team gave up on the season early last year and started experimenting. They are not as bad as their record indicates...but I agree, they aren't good either.

C- Theo Ratliff
PF- Randolph
SF- Darius Miles
SG- Derek Anderson
PG- Sebastian Telfair

That is a respectable starting 5.

They are overloaded with small guards though. They have that high schooler, Stoudamire, Jarrett Jack, and Van Excel.

I really haven't followed them too deep so they might have a free agent or two in this list I just posted. I know Abdur-Rahim is a goner.

I really expect to see their Roster upgraded from what it is now. They have some sign and trade possibilities too with Rahim

Clip, respectable starting 5? Derek Anderson? Darius Miles? Theo Ratliff? Telfair may have promise and Randolph has shown glimpses of skills when he isnt showing his ass whining and ball hogging.

Redeye, you really went out on limb saying this roster will be upgraded. They could bring in a NBDL squad and last years Blazers roster would be upgraded at many positions.

I guess the question I would ask myself if I'm Mcmillan, which franchise has a better chance in the future to win a championship. Its not even close. Seattle doesn't have the recources the Blazers have.

I concur..........basketball season too long away for us to be worrying much about it this evening.

If Seattle doesnt name a solid coach they could drop far in the WC standings next season.

However, this Portland needs plenty of help.

Well, looks like Nate made a good call getting out of Seattle, but I still cant understand why he took the Blazers job if ANYTHING else was available.

Id say Nate is happy this season is finished.

Nate is getting some $50+ million dollars. How could anyone be unhappy with that kind of bank?
