agree.

Hes also the most over rated player too. If he play for KC he would have to buy a ticket to the Hall of Fame.

You beat me to that one. 5 years $55 million and he'll probably end up pitching a total of less than one season out of those five.

I was bored so I looked up a few more:

Mike Mussina $19 million
Roger Cedeno $5.5 million
Nomar Garciaparra $8.25 million
Latroy Hawkins $4.5 million
Kerry Wood $9.5 million (and a lot more over the next two years)
Jose Contreras $8.5 million
Ray Durham $7.2 million
Tom Glavine $10.7 million
Mike Piazza $16 million
Al Leiter $7 million
Sammy Sosa $17 million
Bobby Higginson $8.85 million
Tim Salmon $10.15 million
Phil Nevin $9.625 million
Half of Seattle's roster
Jeff Weaver $9.3 million
Jason Kendall $10.6 million
Javier Vazquez $11 million
Ken Griffey Jr $12.5 million
Jeff Bagwell $18 million
Matt Lawton $7.75 million
Preston Wilson $12.5 million

All I can say is :monsters-

Most of those players are in the middle or towards the end of long term deals that were signed when they were coming off career years and now they are not worth 25% of what they are getting paid. That just shows that when the local media whips a team's fans into a frenzy about showering a player with money, they are idiots. General managers should never cave in to public outcry and sign a player to a hefty long term contract that will handcuff a team down the road.

Sammy Sosa gets my vote. Boy did baltimore get burned. He's a cheater, a liar and a punk and absolutely worthless without roids. 17 milllion.

8 million for Sean Casey isn't exactly a bargain either. A great guy but has the speed of an overloaded beer truck, looks like a good fielder but only because his glove never gets close to the ball and he's lucky to hit 5 homers a year. 8 mil? i don't think so.

Balt. didn't really get burned because the Cubs are paying his salary this year!

I dont think anyone can argue Darren Dreifort who has become the most overpaid middle reliever in baseball history. Hes always hurt, and even when hes not hurt his era is over 5.00!!!!!

This is what the Dodgers get for 11 million a year. About 6 to 8 games a year with a 5+ ERA!!!!! At least Sosa will jack one every once in a while. It even though he is slumping, there are still a few people out there who buy tickets just to see him play.

When is the last time you heard someone say "Lets go to the Dodgers game to see Dreifort pitch". :lolBIG:

Mike Hampton must have the greatest agent in the history of sports. He's the 2nd highest paid player on the Braves coming in at around 15 million a year!

It really only comes out to about 5 million a year from the Braves standpoint. The Braves got him basically for free his first 2 years because the Rockies and Marlins paid most of his money the first 2 years to unload him on the Braves.

hardly ever - if ever

and they will never say it again for his contract expires after this season - although he is most likely done for good anyway

OK - EZ question here:

Dreifort was the #2 player taken in the draft. Who was #1
