i would venture a guess that most who play the alt. runline are laying the 1.5 , not taking it .

alternate runlines can be very valuable in some cases. I like to use the +1.5 line in games that Santana is a -300 fav. You can still get plus money on the dog, and Santanna has won 4 games this year by exactly 1 run.

There has to be at least a little value in most cases laying the chalk because as you guys surmise, most everyone's inclination is to take the odds.

Taking that run is IMO the way to go. People really underestimate how many 1 run games there are in baseball. If you have a great starter I would lay it anytime.
